Inquisition on the Estate of Frederick Baum late of Union Township dec'd
 
Inquisition indented taken and made at the dwelling house of William Morrison in 
Union Township Mifflin County this third day of September 1808 by virtue of the 
annexed writ and order of partition issued out of the Orphans Court of Mifflin 
County and to the Sheriff of said County directed before William Bell Esquire 
Sheriff of said County upon the oaths of Francis Ellis, Charles McCormick, James 
Milliken, William Brown Jr., William Henry, John Fleming, David Fleming, John 
Reed, Alexander Reed, Sam'l Campbell, John Clayton and Alexander Gibboney twelve 
free honest and lawful men of the said Sheriffs bailiwick who upon their oaths 
and affirmations aforesaid respectively do say that they went to the messauge 
and plantation and tract of land in the annexed writ and order of partition 
mentioned and then and there did find that the same messauge plantation and 
tract of land could be convientiely divided so as to accomodate all the children 
and heirs of said intestate in said writ and order mentioned who appear now to 
be interested therein without injury to or spoiling the same and the asfor said 
upon their oaths aforsaid have parted and divided the said messauge plantation 
and tract of land having respect to the quanity and quality thereof into three 
parts and have valued each part as follows to wit
 
The lower division adjoining lands of James Alexander and others Begining at a 
spanish oak thence north thirty one degrees west thirty five and a half perches 
to a white oak thence north twenty one degrees east seven and a half perches to 
a white oak thence north forty six degrees west one hundred and eighteen and one 
half perches to a post thence south forty degrees west thirty two perches to a 
post thence north forty eight degrees west sixty perches to a white oak thence 
south forty degrees west eighty perches to a stone thence south 45E 154 perches 
to stones thence S 46 W 36 and 3/4 perches to stones S 32 E 51 to stones thence 
N  66 E 149 to the place of begining and have valued the same at the valuation 
of nineteen dollars and sixty six cents per acre for each and every acre 
thereof. The whole containing one hundred and forty one acres forty two perches 
and allowances.
 
The middle division adjoining the first division aforesaid and the last division 
herein after mentioned. Begining at a stone thence south forty degrees west 
sixty perches to a post thence south forty degrees west three perches to a stone 
thence south forty five degrees east seventy nine perches to stones thence south 
forty four degrees wet fifty perches to stones thence south thirty two degrees 
east fifty five perches to stones thence north forty six and a half east seventy 
five perches to stones thence N 32 W 51 to stones thence N 48 W 36 to stones 
thence N 45 W 154 to the begining containing seventy six acres and one hundred 
and eleven perches and an allowance of six percent for roads and have valued the 
same at the valuation of nineteen dollars per acre for each and every acre 
thereof.
 
And the upper division or share adjoinging the last mentioned and lands of 
Nathan Allen Dec'd and other. Begining at a fallen hickory thence south thirty 
two degrees east one hundred and thiry four perches to a post thence north forty 
six and a half degrees east seventy five perches to stones thence thirty two 
degrees west  fifty five perches to stones thence south forty degrees west one 
hundred and fourteen perches to the place of begining containing  seventy six 
acres and ninety three perches and allowance of six percent for roads and 
highways. And have valued the same at the valuation of 16 dollars per acre for 
each and every acre thereof. In testimony whereof as well as the said Sheriff as 
the inquest aforesaid have to this inquisition set their hand and affixed their 
seals the day and year first above written.
