  Leroy 0. Thomas, Garage Owner, Dies; Rites Today
     Leroy Ostrander Thomas, 66, of 501 Allegheny St., a native and lifelong 
  resident of this area and the owner of the Thomas Chevrolet Garage in 
  Smethport, died at 10:25 p.m. Monday in Bradford Hospital following a month's 
  illness.
     Born in East Smethport Nov. 28, 1892, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis R. 
  Thomas, Mr. Thomas was married: July 24, 1920, at Smethport to Hazel Hansen, 
  who survives.
     A veteran of World War I, he served aboard the USS Von Steuben. He was a 
  member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church; the Bucktail Post 138, American Legion; 
  the McKean Post 2497, Veterans of Foreign Wars; and Bradford Elks Lodge.
     Mr. Thomas, an ardent hunter and fisherman, was also one of the town's most 
  loyal supporters of High School and other athletic teams.
     Not only was Mr. Thomas a successful business man, but he also was one of 
  the town's most popular citizens, with a legion of friends who mourn his 
  passing and extend sympathy to the bereaved family.
     Other survivors include two sons, Kenneth L. Thomas of Indianapolis, Ind., 
  and Donald H. Thomas of Smethport; one brother, Clair M. Thomas of Smethport; 
  four sisters, Mrs. A. M. Anderson of Jensen Beach, Fla., Mrs. Albert Halber of 
  Erie, Mrs. Elmer Hopper of Alascardo, California, and Mrs. Olive B. Schreiber 
  of Smethport; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
     A requiem celebration of Holy Communion will be held at St. Luke's 
  Episcopal Church at 7:30 o'clock this morning, followed by the funeral service 
  at 10:30 at St. (sic) a.m. Thursday, followed by funeral services at 10:30 
  a.m. at St. Luke's with the Rev. Arthur B. Cope, rector, officiating.
     Interment will be in McKean Memorial Park al Lafayette. The Lee Funeral 
  Home is in charge of arrangements.
