  Almond Thomas Died Sunday Following Illness
  Native of Smethport, Ill Eighteen Months, Lived at Big Shanty
     Almond Thomas of Big Shanty, who was born in Smethport on Sept. 2, 1891, 
  died at the Bradford hospital Sunday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock less than two 
  hours after being admitted.
     Although in ill health for the past 18 months, Mr. Thomas' condition did 
  not become serious until about a week ago.
     He was the son of Lewis Thomas and the late Armetta Ostrander Thomas, and 
  was united in marriage to Edith Cory of Kane in December, 1924.
     Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Edith Thomas; four sons, Armond, Garey, 
  Richard and Lewis, all at home; his father, Lewis R. Thomas of Smethport; five 
  sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Hopper, Atascadero, Calif., Mrs. Mary Reisinger and Mrs. 
  Vera Hauber of Erie, and Mrs. Edna Anderson and Mrs. Olive Scheiber, both of 
  Smethport, and two brothers, Roy Thomas of Smethport and Clair Thomas of 
  Buffalo. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
     Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at his home. 
  Burial was in McKean Memorial Park at Lafayette.
     The Rev. G. H. Palmer of Kane officiated.
     Pallbearers were George Blakealy, Charles Hallock, Earl Thornton, Ben 
  Rifle, Harold Wilcox and Edgar Black.
     Those who attended from Smethport were Mrs. Homer Thomas, A. M. Anderson, 
  Mrs. Olive Schreiber and son, William, and Mrs. and Mrs. Roy Thomas.
