  Farmers Valley Man Killed in Lease Accident
  Henry A. MacKenzie, 47, Drawn Into Winch Used on Lease
     Henry Alonzo MacKenzie, aged 47, of Farmers Valley, an oil lease worker, 
  was almost instantly killed on the lease of the Messer Oil Company on 
  Quintuple Hill near Bradford at 9 o'clock Saturday morning. He died of a 
  fractured skull and broken neck, according to Coroner Thomas R. Clark of 
  Bradford, who pronounced the death accidental and said no inquest, would be 
  heard.
     Mr. MacKenzie and two other employes of Owen and Atwell, Eldred, oil field 
  contractors, were hauling a stone boat up a steep hillside road. William Hugh 
  Abbey of Port Allegany was the tractor driver and Theodore Chris John of 
  Smethport R.D.1 was a helper.
     The stone boat became stuck. Mr. Abbey hacked the tractor into a more 
  advantageous position and Mr. MacKenzie was guiding the wire pull line into 
  the tractor which when it is thought a wicker caught his glove and drew his 
  arm into the winch. Before it could be stopped, Mr. Mackenzie's head and 
  shoulder were jammed against the winch frame. His left arm was torn from the 
  shoulder and his head badly crushed.
     Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Pearl Bell MacKenzie; four children, Augusta, 
  Daniel, Donna and Anna Lou MacKenzie, at home; his father, Norman MacKenzie of 
  Smethport; four sisters, Mrs. Florence Boyer of Aiken, Mrs. Gladys Trowbridge 
  and Mrs. Allen Lovell of Bradford; and Mrs. Dorothy Quinn of Buffalo, and a 
  brother, Ira MacKenzie of Limestone.
     Funeral services were held at the home in Farmers Valley Tuesday afternoon 
  at 2 o'clock. The Rev. H. H. Atkins, pastor of the Farmers Valley United 
  Brethren church, officiated. Burial was in Kasson cemetery.
     Military services were observed with members of the Lieut. John C. Roche 
  post, V.F.W., of Bradford, and from the Smethport V.F.W. post acting as color 
  bearers and forming the firing squad.
