Mrs. Grant Love Funeral Sunday
Succumbed Thursday Following Surgery
Funeral services for Mrs. Grant Love, 29, of Farmers Valley, who died at
the Port Allegany hospital Thursday, August 10, following surgery, were held
on Sunday, Aug 13, with 2 o'clock services at the home and 2:30 o'clock
services at the United Brethren church at Farmers Valley, with the Rev. H. H.
Atkins, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.
She was taken ill on Monday and was admitted to the hospital Wednesday and
her condition was very serious, suffering from a ruptured appendix.
Deceased was a daughter of Charles Berg and was born July 7, 1915 at
Farmers Valley and was untied in marriage to Grant Love at Moosic, Pa. She has
always resided in Farmers Valley.
Mrs. Love was well known in Smethport and vicinity, having been employed by
the Backus Novelty Co. here since it went on war production. She will be
greatly missed by a host of friends as she was of a very sunny and pleasant
disposition. Since her sister, Mrs. Ollie (sic) Strom died thirteen years ago,
she has cared for her niece, Elsie, 14-years-old, and a nephew, Junior, 18-
years-old.
Survivors are her husband, Grant Love, Chief Petty Office, U.S.N., who is
serving in the Pacific war theater, and two children, Barbara Jane and Emily
May, both at home; her father, Charles Berg, and a sister, Mrs. Fred Gustafson
of Farmers Valley; three brothers, Carl Berg, Rosehill Ave., Smethport; Archie
Berg, Rochester, Pa., and Robert Berg; and a niece, Elsie Strom, and nephew,
Junior Strom, residing at home.
Pallbearers were Orrice Church, Richard Carlson, Ralph Dickinson, Richard
Larson, Robert Craft and Alvie Mattison.
Out-of-town relatives attending the funeral were Mrs. Elmer Nordine and son
and Mrs. Hazel Walker of Jamestown, N. Y.; Mrs. Marie Love and Mr. and Mrs. A.
B. Keener of Rochester, N. Y.; Mr. and Mrs. Clark Love, Buffalo, N. Y.; Mr.
and Mrs. Earl Swort of Whitesville, N. Y.
