  Charles Berg, 85, Retired Refinery Worker, Is Dead
     Charles Berg, 85, a retired refinery worker, died at his home, Smethport 
  R.D. 3, Sunday at 7:45 p.m.
     Mr. Berg was born in Gotland, Sweden, Jan. 24, 1870. He came to the U. S. 
  at the age of 11, settling first as a young man in Minnesota, and coming to 
  this section of Pennsylvania in 1888 where he was employed as a teamster. He 
  later worked in the local oil fields and at the Quaker State Oil Refining 
  Corp. until his retirement in 1939.
     Surviving are three sons, Carl Berg, Smethport, Archie Berg, Monaca, Pa., 
  and Robert Berg of 17 N. Bennett St., Bradford; one daughter, Mrs. Edith 
  Gustafson, Smethport; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
     Funeral services were conducted yesterday afternoon in the Fry Funeral 
  Home, Smethport. The Rev. C. O. Thunberg, DuBois, retired pastor of the 
  Ansgarlus Lutheran Church, Smethport, officiated.
     Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

  Charles Berg Rites Held at Smethport
     Funeral services for Charles Berg of East Smethport, who died on Sunday, 
  Aug. 14, were held Wednesday afternoon of last week in the Fry Funeral Home, 
  Smethport.
     The Rev. C. O. Thunberg of DuBois, retired pastor of Ansgarius Lutheran 
  Church, Smethport, officiated.
     Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
     Pallbearers were Joseph Megivern, Kevin Ogilvie, Arvid Larson, Clyde 
  Sweeley, Frank Bowley and Clarence Larson.
