William Conn received his education in the public schools and in
the academy of his native township. He was then employed in the store
of his father until 1875. Five years later he formed a partnership
with his brother, and for eleven years they conducted the store of
their father at Spruce Hill. In 1895, Mr. Fitzgerald acquired full
control, and has since conducted the business. He was married January
23, 1889, to Annie M. Reed, a daughter of John Reed. Their children
are: D. Marion; Frank; Guy; and George. In his political views Mr.
Conn is a Democrat; he was appointed postmaster at Spruce Hill in
1895, and has also served as auditor of the township. He holds the
office of steward in the Methodist Episcopal church, and is a teacher
in and superintendent of the Sunday-school.
