AN OLD SETTLER GONE.

William Murgatroyd Dies at the age of 92 years.
William Murgatroyd is dead. He died at his home
in the town of Yorkville at the ripe old age of
92 years, ? months and 12 days. He was born in
England.
At the age of 20 he was married to Miss Sarah
Beck. Into this home were born children, 3 boys
and 5 girls. Two boys and four girls survive him.
In 1847 he came to America and settled in Kenosha
county, Wis, Sarah, his wife died in 1858, In
1859 he was married to Mrs. Amy Herd, who was a
faithful wife to him for over 35 years and, at
the advanced age of 50 years survives him. When a
young man Mr. Murgatroyd united with The church
of England. On coming to Wisconsin he united with
the Bethany or Rose Hill Primitive Methodista,
This church being afterward disbanded he united
on profession of faith, January 5, 1973, with the
First Congregational church of Union Grove, of
which church he has since been an honored and
faithful member.
There are very few who live to see 80 many
generations following them as did this man who
was great-great grandfather to four children. He
had been blessed with very good health not till
the last two or three years of his life. At times
during the last few months he suffered intensely,
but all this while he had been giving a blessed
testimony to the comfort and power of the gospel
of Christ. It would seem that no one would be
able to witness his peace of soul and assurance
of salvation and not be obliged to acknowledge
the wonderful preciousness of faith in christ. He
has gone from us, but his testimony remains.
"He being dead, yet speaketh." Farewell, dear
friend, a long farewell, for we shall meet no
more, till we were raised with Christ to dwell,
On 2-one happy shore..
