FAYNE, WILLIAM J. (BILL) 1826 
Franklin St. Age 79. Passed this 
morning. July 26, 1958, his 
residence.

Mr. Payne was born in Bellville. 
Canada, on May 7, 1879, and had 
lived in New London, Wis. before 
coming to 51 years ago. In 
Menominee, Mich.

on July 6, 1903, he was married. 
to the former Verna Vetter. He was 
a merchant policeman in the Uptown 
business district for 15 years 
before retiring. He was a member 
of the Racine Benevolent 
Protective Order of Elks, had 
served four years as process 
server in the Racine Sheriff's: 
Department before becoming a 
merchant policeman and for the 
past 23 years had served as 
special deputy sheriff. Surviving 
are his wife, Mrs.

Verna Payne; one son, Lewis C. 
Payne of Wausau, Wis.; one 
daughter, Mrs. Orvin A. (Mildred) 
Klema of Bristol, Conn.; one 
nephew, Bud Payne of Marinette, 
Wis.: three grandchildren; six 
greatgrandchildren. Funeral serv-| 
ices will be held Monday, 3 p.

m., in the Greenwood Funeral Home, 
Rev. Alexander Simpson, rector of 
St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 
officiating. Cremation will follow 
in Forest Home Crematory, 
Milwaukee and interment will be in 
the family plot, Graceland 
Cemetery, Friends may call at the 
GREENWOOD FUNERAL HOME, 1003 
Fourteenth St., Sunday afternoon 
after 3 oclock and until service 
time Monday, In lieu of flowers, 
friends may contribute to the 
cancer fund. IN.
