Death of an Old Comstocker
The Chronicle says: Richard Cavanaugh, for the past 20 years employed at
different mines on the Comstock, died yesterday morning of lung disease after an
illness of two months.  Mr. Cavanaugh has been foreman of the Caledonia and
other mines on the lead, and was the first foreman under John W. Mackay.  His
last employment was at the Union as watchman in the changing rooms and keeper of
stores.  Deceased was a native of the County of Wexford, Ireland.  He leaves a
wife and five children.
