Sudden Death

Charles Becker, an Old Resident of Reno, Dies of Pneumonia

Charles Becker, a farm hand, aged about 40 years and an old resident of Reno,
died at the Pyramid House Saturday evening of pneumonia. He has been
complaining of feeling bad for several days, and had applied for admittance to
the county hospital. As Becker was known to have some money his request was
denied, and he secured a room at the house above named. At 1:30 o'clock he was
pronounced a very sick man, but no thought of a fatal termination of the case
entered the mind of Dr. Hogan, also was summoned shortly after. At 3:30 o'clock
P.M. Commissioner Hymers called at his room and was horrified to find Becker
lying on the outside of the bed cold and lifeless, the attitude of the body
showing that he had been seized with a coughing or vomiting fit and had died in
the paroxysms which ensued. The deceased was buried in the Potter's field
yesterday at the expense of the county.
