St. Marys Man Loses Mother
Mrs. Harry Portzer, 56, mother of Thomas Portzer, of Lynchville, died at her home in 
Cleveland on Saturday after an illness of only one week. The remains have been taken 
to DuBois where friends and relatives may call at the home of another son, Gerald 
Portzer at 525 Maple Avenue.
 
Requiem Mass will be celebrated Thursday morning at nine o'clock at St. Catherine's 
Church in DuBois and internment will take place in St. Leo's Cemetery at Ridgway.
 
Mrs. Portzer, nee Maude Frantz was born October 31, 1894 at Penfield, daughter of the 
late Isaac and Mary Chambers Frantz. On June 2, 1914, she was married to Mr. Portzer, 
a former resident of St. Marys, who passed away on August 7, 1943. The family lived 
in Ridgway for about 30 years and she also lived in Medix Run and DuBois prior to 
moving to Cleveland.
 
The deceased is survived by three sons: Thomas of St. Marys; Gerald, DuBois and Lloyd 
at Cleveland. Two grandchildren also survive.
 
Other survivors include three sisters and three brothers. They are Viola, Mrs. Robert 
Irwin of Johnsonburg; Celia Mrs. Harold Bressler of Richmond, Virginia; Ruth, Mrs. John 
Donahue of Wilcox; Frank Frantz of Breckenridge; Stewart of Bradford and Milton Frantz 
of Johnsonburg. A son Russell, died at Ridgway in 1926, and a daughter Jane also died 
in Ridgway in 1936.
