Brother of Local Folks Passes Away
Harry Portzer Died Saturday Night in Ridgway, Funeral Services Thursday
Ridgway: August 9th. Harry A. Portzer, 55, employed as a millwright at 
Hyde Murphy Company for twenty-four years and father of three sons serving in 
the United States armed forces, died suddenly of a heart attack at his home at 
201 Monroe Avenue Saturday evening at 6 o'clock. He had been working all day and 
was stricken following the evening meal. A funeral service will be held Thursday 
morning at nine o'clock in St. Leo's Church. Internment in St. Leo's Cemetery.
 
Mr. Portzer was born in St. Marys February 18, 1888, a son of the late Katherine 
Daniel Portzer and Henry Portzer. He was employed at Hyde-Murphy Company since 1919. 
Mr. Portzer was a member of the Carpenter's  and Joiner's Union, the Knights of 
Columbus, and the Protected Home Circle. He leaves his widow the former Maude Frantz 
of Johnsonburg; three sons, Staff Sergeant Thomas Portzer, stationed in Iceland; 
Lloyd Portzer, a member of the See Bees at Camp Peary, Virginia, and Private Gerald
 Portzer, stationed in Arizona. Two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Albert Blessel, 
Mrs. Raymond Feldbauer and Edward Portzer, St. Marys, and Frank Portzer of DuBois, 
also survive.
