Death Claims Mrs. K Portzer last evening.

Well known Maurus Street Woman Called by Grim Reaper after Having been in ill 
health for some time Katherine Portzer, well known in our midst was claimed by 
death last evening at ten o'clock at her home at 556 Maurus St. Mrs. Portzer 
has been in ill health for some time and her death was not unexpected. She was 
born in St. Marys on March 10, 1865, the daughter of Theodore and Apollonia 
Daniels. She was Married to Henry Portzer on September 21, 1886, her husband 
preceeded her to the grave two years ago. Mrs. Portzer lived in St. Marys 
practically all of her life and until the death of her husband, made her home 
on Theresia Road.

She is survived by the following children: H.A. Portzer of Ridgway, Frank J. 
Portzer of DuBois, Edward, Mrs. Albert Blessel and Mrs. Raymond Feldbauer all 
of St. Marys. The funeral will be held from the St, Marys Church, Thursday at 
nine o'clock. Internment will be in the St. Marys Cemetery.

Former St. Marys People Also Answer Summons of Grim Reaper During Week
     Mrs. Appelonia Daniels, a well known and highly respected resident of 
Benzinger township, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Henry Portzer, of 
Theresia road, Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Death was due to the 
infirmities of old age.
     Mrs. Daniels was born in Germany, August 1, 1839, and came to this 
country many years ago.
     She had been a consistent member of the St. Marys church and was a member 
of the Altar Society.
     She is survived by three sons; John of St. Marys; and Frank and Casper, 
of Petoskey, Mich.; five daughters, Mrs. Henry Portzer, Mrs. Joseph Knight, 
Mrs. John Lenze and Mrs. John Feldbauer, of St. Marys and Mrs. George Pistner, 
Medix Run. Three brothers, Peter Wegemer, of this place; and Casper and Frank 
Wegemer, of Petoskey, Mich., also survive.
     The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at ten o'clock. Services will 
be held at the St. Marys Church and burial made in the St. Marys Cemetery.

Additional Comments:
Katta Daniels was the daughter of Appelonia Wegemer and her husband Theodore 
Daniels. Cousins remember her speaking Dutch, her father's native tongue. 
Catherine and her husband Henry were parents of 7 children.
