Elk County Gazette 9/20/1894
The death on Wednesday, September 12, of the wife of Mr. Michael Gerg, at
her home on Rosely Street, removes from our midst, an old resident of St.
Marys, and a woman of high standing and Christian character. She had lived a
long and useful life, and departed leaving the world better for having lived in
it, and leaving behind a large circle of friends who sincerely mourn for her
while feeling assured that she is free from suffering and at peace in the land
of the great beyond and across the river of Death. Annie Hooper was born at
Munich, Germany, January 2, 1820, being at the time of her death in her 75th
year. She was married to Michael Gerg in Munich, Germany, and leaves to mourn
their loss, her husband, five daughters and three sons; havig buried two sons
and one daughter. The living children are: Annie, wife of John Schauer;
Barbara, wife of Louis Gies; Rosa, wife of F. X. Erich; Katie, wife of George
J. Bauer; Tillie, wife of John Hoffman; Anthony, Frank, Matt and Charles. All
of the above live at St. Marys, with the exception of Mrs. Hoffman who lives at
Benzinger, and Charles, who is a resident of Ridgway, PA. Besides the sons and
daughters, there are a great many grandchildren and a number of great-
grandchildren.
The funeral took place, Friday, September 14, and was from the German
Catholic Church, and was largely attended, one feature being worthy of remark,
that was the great number of relatives that followed the honored woman to her
burial place.

SPECAL NOTE: Her maiden name was Huber not Hooper as stated in obit
