      Minnie {Visick} Frederick               

                               Born: 12 Jan 1872,  Mt. Riga, Dutchess Co., New York    
 Died: 29 Jun 1936 Ridgway, Pennsylvania   Minnie was a student in the School of Music 
at the Female Institute of Bucknell. She attended September 1893 - June 1894, 
September 1894- June 1895. According to the University Catalogue she studied piano, 
pipe organ, harmony, violin, and mandolin. At the time she was living in Green Ridge, 
a part of Strong, Pennsylvania (Northumberland County).

 

   Minnie married George Frederick on Nov. 6, 1899. The marriage took place in Mt.
Carmel, Pennsylvania.  They then moved to Ridgway where George had already been employed 
as a machinist for the Ridgway Dynamo and Engine Company.   Minnie was a member of the 
Elizabeth Early Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.  She was also the organist at the 
Presbyterian Church for many years. 

 

Died June 29, 1936 (age 64 years) from colon cancer after a long illness

 Obituary: From  Ridgway Record,   June 30, 1936 Minnie D. Frederick, wife of George F. 
Frederick of 311 Cook Avenue, died at their home last evening. A resident since 1899, 
funeral services will be held at the residence on July 2 At 2:30 P.M. Burial will be 
in Thayer Memorial Cemetery.  Born in New York State, she came to Ridgway in 1899 as 
the bride of George Frederick, who had come here being employed previously by the Ridgway 
Dynamo and Engine Company. She quickly made many friends  here because of her many 
activities and church work, and was organist at the Presbyterian Church for many years. 
She was a member of the Elizabeth Early Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and the 
Presbyterian Church. Surviving, her husband, two brothers, Gifford Visick of Willow Grove,
 Pennsylvania, and William Visick of Mount Carmel. One sister, Mrs. A.R. Andrews, of 
Philadelphia.
