Funeral of Luther M. Howard
Services in memory of Luther M. Howard Civil War veteran, were held Friday
afternoon at the Byham funeral home. Among those present were five veterans
of the war of the sixties-David L. Woods, Captain James W. Smith, Henry
Bevilhimer, S.C. Betts and Henry K. Ward. Crawford Lodge No. 164, K. of P.,
was repreented, and Martha Jane Woods Tent No. 35 and Irene Sheridan Tent No.
43, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, attended as one body, all in
uniform.
The casket was draped with an American Flag, and two flags were stationed at
each end of the casket. There was a profusion of floral tributes.
The services were conducted by Rev. R. Shaw Barrow, and began with the
reading of Scriptural selections. . .
