James M. Crookham, an aged and respected resident of Fairfield Township, died 
at the home of his nephew, J.(esse) S. Crookham, Friday morning about 4:30 
o'clock, after a short illness, ages 89 years.  Mr. Crookham was born in 
Williamsport, Pa. May 27, 1824, and came to Crawford County at an early age.  
He was married to Miss Lydia Ann Devore, Dec. 24, 1846.  To this union twelve 
children were born, two of whom died in infancy and one daughter, Mrs. Viola 
McMillan died in Washington, D.C. in Nov. 1893.  Three daughters, Mrs. Mary P. 
Conklyn, Osceola, Neb.: Mrs. Ella Easton, Emmett, Idaho; Mrs. Minnie L. Riggs, 
Pittsburgh, and six sons, Matthew E., Chico, Ca.; George, Finleyville, Pa.; 
Perry, Marvin, Kans.; Frank W., of Smithshire, Ill.; Elmer, Monongahela, Pa.; 
Charles, Beaver, Pa.; and 32 grandchildren survive.  Funeral was held from 
Mumford Chapel Tuesday.......Interment in the Mumford Cemetery...............
