The Crawford Journal, Meadville, PA January 3, 1901
The home of Mr. and Mrs. H. Sturgis, of Sturgis, PA., was the scene of a
very pretty wedding on Christmas day, when at high noon, their daughter, Miss
Dora E., was united in marriage to Mr. Fred C. Marsh, of Union City, Pa. The
ceremony was performed by the Rev. W.P. Lawthhian, of Mill Village, in the
presence of only the immediate relatives.
The wedding march was played by Mrs. G. W. Sturis, of Mill Village. Miss
M. Ethel Sturgis, of Westfield, N.Y., attended the bride and the best man was
La Rue Marsh, of Oil City, PA.
The bride was gowned in a very pretty costume of grey Duchesse satin, with
pearl trimings, and carried a bouquet of bride's roses, while the groom was
attired in conventional black.
The house was handsomely decorated with cut flowers, and Christmas green.
After the ceremony an elaborate collation was served under the direction of
Mrs. Adelaide Pinney, sister of the bride. The bride's table, of ten covers,
was beautifully decorated with smilax and carnations, pink and white being the
prevailing colors.
Mr. and Mrs. Marsh were the recipients of many useful and beautiful
presents, which manifest the high esteem in which they are held by both
relatives and friends.
The guests from out of town were Rev. and Mrs. W.P. Lawthian, Mr. and Mrs.
G.W. Sturgis, son and daughter, Francis and Gladys, of Mill Village; Mr. and
Mrs. R.D. Marsh, and son La Rue, of Oil City; Dr. G.D. Marsh of Sherman, N.Y.;

After the collation was served, Mr. and Mrs. Marsh Left, amid a shower of
rice and old shoes, for their newly furnished home at the "Marsh
Homestead," . . . (last sentence unreadible)
