The Carnesville Herald And Advance January 11, 1934
A negro woman inmate of the paupers home near Carnesville was burned to death
about 12:30 Thursday morning when fire destroyed one of the cottages. The fire was
discovered by a party passing by who gave the alarm but by the time help could be
secured the fire had gained such headway that it was impossible to save the negro
woman. She had evidently started out the building and fell near the door. The name
of the negro was not learned.

The building was a wooden frame structure and burned rapidly. The origin of the
fire is unknown.
