                Will of Abram Vanhorn, 1770


In the Name of God Amen.  I, Abram Vanhorn, of the Township of
Northampton in the County of Bucks, Province of Pennsylvania, Yeoman,
being  weak in body but of sound and Perfect Memory do this seventh
Day of February One thousand seven hundred and seventy [1770] make
and publish this my last Will and Testament in Manner following, viz.

It is my Will that all my just Debts and funeral Expenses be duly
paid.

Item.  I give and bequeth unto my beloved Wife Mary, my Bed with the
funriture, two ___ Pots, half a Dozen pewter plates, half a dozen
pewter spoons, two pewter Dishes, one Chest with Drawers, four
Chairs, one armei? Chair, two small tables, one tea Kettle, Tea Pot
and half a dozen tea Cups and Saucers, one pewter Quart, one Looking
Glass, two table Cloaths, half a dozen Knives and forks, one pail and
washing tub, one side Saddle, and the little Cupboard, all which
respective Articles she shall have at her own Choise.

Item.  I give and bequeth unto my beloved Wife Mary, the Sum of one
Hundred pounds.

Item.  I give unto my Son Barnet Vanhorn the sum of five shillings in
Consideration of his birth right.

Item.  I give unto my Son Isaak Vanhorn the sum of twenty pounds
exclusive of his Proportion with my other children.

Item.  I give devise and bequeath all that Plantation and tract of
Land whereon I now dwell unto my Sons Abram Vanhorn, David Vanhorn,
and Isaak Vanhorn in the following Manner and Conditions, viz.

Begining at the southwest Corner off my said plantation measuring
Thence Northerly by said land late of Samuel Salmer, Decd, and John
Feaster so many perches that by extending a Line from the Land of
said John Feaster easterly parallel to the Line between my said
Plantation and the Land of my Son Barnet Vanhorn, Samuel Dier?, and
Benjamin Dier?, to the Line on the easterly side of my said
Plantation, the same may take in one hundered and fifty Acres, Eighty
five acres to be measured off from the East end of the said one
hundered and fifty  Acres so surveyed off at the south side of my
Plantation.  I give devise and bequeath unto my said Son Abram
Vanhorn and to his Heirs and assigns forever.

Item.  sixty five Acres being the Remainder of said one Hundred and
fifty acres and South West? end thereof I give device and bequeath
unto my Son David Vanhorn and to his Heirs and assigns forever;

Item. the one half of all the Rest Residue and Remainder of my said
Plantation I give Devise and Bequeath unto my said Son Isaak Vanhorn
and to his Heirs and Assigns forever provided in____thereof? that ___
said Abram, David, and Isaak shall pay the sum of four pounds
therefore the several pieses of Land to them respectively attested
and devised at or before the experation of four years after my
Decease;

Item.  the other half of the before mentioned Resdiue and Remainder I
give and bequeath unto my Son Isaak an to his Heirs and Assigns upon
condition that out of the ___ and profits accuring therefrom he or
they shall and do afford my Son Jacob Vanhorn a competent and
reasonable Maintainance for and during his natural life.

Item.  after the decease of my Son Jacob I give devise and bequeath
the said residuary Moisty? unto my aforesaid Son Isaak Vanhorn and to
his Heirs and Assigns forever.

Item.  It is my Will that so soon as conveniantly may be after my
Decease? all my Personal Estate accept what I have before bequathed
to my Wife aforesaid be disposed of at public Sale to the highest
Bidder and the Money arising therefrom except one hundred pounds
before bequeethed to my Wife afore.? and  twenty pounds to my son
Isaak, shall be divided between my Sons Barnett Vanhorn, Jeremiah
Vanhorn, Abram Vanhorn, David Vanhorn, and Isaak Vanhorn and my
Daughters Mary Kreusen, my Daughter Charity Vanhorn, and Martha
Vanschiver in manner following, that is to say allowing two shares to
my Sons, to my Daughters one;

so nevertheless that the Money which my said Sons and Daughters have
heretofore respectively been given by me shall be divided and
accounted as so much received by them ____their respective Dividens
or Portions which are as follows, to my Son Barnett I have heretofore
given two hundered pounds, To Jeremiah one hundered and ninety two
pounds, eighteen shillings and three pence half penny.  To my Son
Abram twenty three pounds, ten shillings.  To David forty nine pounds
And to my Daughters Mary I have given seventeen pounds,  To Charity
thrity seven pounds ten shillings, To Martha forty seven pounds.

Item.  it is my Will that if my personal Estate shall not be
sufficient to discharge the aforesaid Legacies so that each of my
Sons except Jacob do receive five? hundered pounds and my Daughters
one hundered pounds that then and in that Case the several
Deficiensies be madeup out of the Money before directed to be paid
for the Land by my Sons Abram, David, and Isaak at the experation of
four years after my decease,  And the Remainder thereof as also the
Remainder of my personal Estate, if any there should be, I give unto
my aforesaid Wife Mary  and to all my Children accept Jacob to be
equally divided between them and any their, theirs respectively;

Item.  It is my Will and ___ by order that the portion which shall
fall to my Daughter Charity be reserved in the Hands of my Executors
and by them paid as her Necessitys shall require so that the same may
not exceed ten pounds per Year, but in case she should die before the
whole is paid, then whatever remains shall go to her Children to be
equally divided between them, share and share alike. 

Item.  I give and bequeath unto my aforesaid Wife Mary a Pair of
small bngrons? in the little Room.

Lastly I Constitute make and appoint my aforesaid Son Abram Vanhorn
and my aforesaid Son Isaak Vanhorn to be my Sole Executors of this my
last Will and Testament.  Ratifying and Confirm? a ines? and no other
to be my last Will and Testament.  In Witness whereof  I have
thereunto set my Hand and Seal the Day and Year first above written. 

 Signed, Sealed, published, and declared by the said Abram Vanhorn to
be his Last Will and Testament in the Presence of us the Subscribers
