In the Name of God Amen, I James Hughes, Sr. of Bedminster in the County of
Bucks in the province of Pennsylvania, being weak of body by reason of old age,
but of sound memory (blessed be God) so this tenth day of October in the Year of
our Lord Christ one thousand  seven hundred and seventy nine, make and publish
this my will and testament in manner following: (that is to say): it is my will
and I order that all my just debts shall be paid and discharged by my executors
hereafter [mentioned?] and it is my will and I do hereby bequeath to my wife
Rebecca her bed and bedding, her little spinning wheel a chest and her two
boxes, an iron pot and table an [iron?] thimble two chairs an iron skillet one
pewter bowl and six pewter spoons, her saddle and bridle and two ewes sheep one
of my best cows and calf all her wearing apparel for ever, also I leave and
bequeath to my said wife the third of my plantation situate in Bedminster that
I live on for to support her during her natural life and no longer, and I order
that out of the other two third she may have half an acre of ground to sow
flaxes on it each year during her natural life and no longer.
               
It is my will and I do hereby will and bequeath my daughter Abigal Thomas her
heirs and assigns one shilling starling [sic] to be paid her or her assigns in
one year after my deceas
               
Also I leave and bequeath to my grand childring [sic] the childring of my son
Chris [or Christopher?] Hughes deceased one shilling starling to be paid to
[each?] and every one in one year after my decease.
               
It is my will and I do hereby bequeath unto my grand childring by my daughter
Elizabeth Mathews one English shilling to be paid to them their heirs and
assigns in one year after my deceas, as also I leave and bequeath my said
daughter Elisabeth Mathews one shilling starling.
               
Imprimis It is my will and I do hereby order and bequeath my grand childring by
my daughter Martha Burke decd one shilling starling to be paid thim [sic] in
one year after my [death or decease] if demanded.
               
It is my will and I do order and bequeath unto my daughter Anne Oliphant one
shilling starling to be paid to her or her assigns in one year after my decease
if demanded.
               
It is my will and I do hereby order and bequeath [unto?] my son James Hughes,
and my son Joshua Hughes and to my great grand son James Hughes so to my
grandson Alaxander Hughes all my plantation situate in Bedminister aforesaid
(under the incumbrances aforesaid [to?] my wife) to them their heirs and
assigns for ever to be equally divided between them share and share alike
forever, and it is my will and I order that my grand son Alexander Hughes take
care of his sons one third part of said plantation during his minority and
take [the?] profits thereof for his use, and it is my will if his son should
die before he becomes of age or die without issue that it should be and remain
to his father Alexander Hughes his heirs and assigns forever,--
               
Item.  It is my will and I do order and bequeath to my [grand?] sons Alexander
Hughes and Thomas Hughes sons of my son Christopher Hughes deceased all my
right [title?] claim and interest of a certain warrant, and plantation laying
over or about the Blew Mountains to them their heirs and assigns for ever.
               
It is my will and I do order that all my goods [and?] effects over and above
what I have in my possession that I have not willed away shall be put up at
[published?] sale and sold and pay my just debts the over to [illegible] one
third part to be paid toward the meeting house at Deep Run where I have and my
children belong unto[?] also one third part to be paid to my grand son
Alesander [?] to my daughter Martha Burke his [sic] heirs and assigns and one
third part to be retained int eh hands of my executors hereafter [noted?] share
and share alike to them their heirs and assigns for ever
               
And I do hereby make and ordain my grand childring to wit Alexander Hughes and
Thomas Hughes to be my executors of this my last will and testament.  In
witness were of: I the said James Hughes have [illegible] my last will and
testament set my and seal the [day?] and year above written
               
Signed, sealed and delivered by the said James Hughes, Sen. As and for his last
will and testament in the presence of us who were present at the signing and
seal thereof
