Be it remembered that I Hugh Ely of the Township of Buckingham in the county of
Bucks yeoman being weak of Body but of a sound & disposing Mind & Memory 
(blessed be God therefore) calling to Mind the Mortality of my Body & knowing
is appointed for all Men once to die have thought fit to make & ordain this my
last Will & Testament in manner & form following   First I recommend my Soul
into the Hands of God who gave it and my Body I commit to the Earth to be
buried in a decent manner at the discretion of my Exors herein after
appointed.  And as touch ing such Worldly Estate as it hath pleased God in his
goodness to favor me with in this Life I give devise & dispose thereof as
follows.  I give & bequeath unto Phebe my beloved Wife the Sum of One Hundred &
fifty Pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania to be paid her by my Exors herein
after named out of my Personal Estate  win Twelve months next after my decease
with lawful Interest for the same from the Day of my Death  Also I give unto my
sd. Wife all & every the House hold Goods  w ch She brought me at our Marriage
together with a large Folio Bible bought since our Marriage and such one of the
Milch Cows as She sees fit to choose out of all my Cattle.  Also I give &
reserve for my sd. Wife the full & free Priviledge Use & Liberty of that Room
in my dwelling House commonly called the Clock Room and so much room in the
Cellar as She may stand in need of for her own private Use whilst She remains
my Widow as afsd and sees fit to dwell in my sd. House & no longer or so as to
have any right to rent lease or dispose of the sd. Room or Cellar to any other
Person or Persons whatsoever Also I Will that during such her Widowhood & abode
in my House as afsd that my Younger Son Hugh Ely get & hall for her use win a
convenient distance of the Door of the Room afsd cut & split unto proper
lengths & sizes a sufficiency of good Firewood and keep & maintain the afsd Cow
at his own Cost Summer & Winter in such manner good Condition & liking as He
keeps his own Milch Cows But if my sd. Wife is pleased to remove her self &
Goods from my sd. and to abide elsewhere then I Will that Instead of the
Priviledges in the afsd Room & Cellar the finding the Firewood & keeping the
Cow as afsd that my sd. Son Hugh Ely pay unto her yearly & every year during
the remainder of such her Widowhood as afsd the Sum of Six Pounds like money
afsd And I do here by declare that the Priviledges & Legacies herein before to
my sd. Wife bequeathed & reserved are given & intended to be in lieu & full
recompence for any Dower or thirds wch She might otherwise have or claim out
of my Estate  Also I give & bequeath to my Son Thomas Ely the the sum of
Seventy five Pounds like money afsd and to his Son Hugh the sum of Five Pounds
like money the sd. Sums to be paid by my Son Hugh Ely the first win twelve
Months next after my decease and the latter to his Father to be placed at
Interest till He comes of age for his Use and I desire that my Books & apparrel
the afsd Bible excepted may be divided as equally as they conveniently may
between my sd. Sons Thomas & Hugh  Also I give & devise to my sd. Son Hugh Ely
the Plantation whereon He & I now live Con taining by Estimation Two Hundred &
fifty acres of Land (be the same more or less) with all & singular the
Buildings Improvements Hereditaments & Appurten ances whatsoever to the sd.
Land & Plantation belonging or in anywise apper taining To hold the same to the
sd. Hugh Ely his Heirs & Assigns forever (excepting the Use & Liberty of the
room & Cellar herein before reserved) Upon this Condition nevertheless that my
sd. Son Hugh keep the Creature provide the Firewood & pay

the Legacies herein before directed to be by him kept, found & paid and that
according to the true Intent & Meaning hereof And all the Rest & Residue of my
Personal Estate not herein already given & bequeathed (after full payment of my
just Debts Funeral Expences) I give & bequeath one half thereof to my Daughter
Ann the Wife of Peter Matson and the other half to be equally divided among
such of the Children of my Daughter Anna late Wife of John Wilkinson as Shall
arrive at the Age of Twenty one years to be paid to them at that age and it is
my desire that the same placed at Interest for them as much as safely may be
for their use  And I do hereby nominate my two sons Thomas Ely & Hugh Ely my
Exors of this my last Will & Testament hereby revok- ing & utterly
disannulling all manner of former & other Wills & Testaments and Legacies at
any Time heretofore by me made or given and publish & declare this Sheet of
Paper written on one Side to be & contain my last Will & Testament one none
other or otherwise In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand & Seal this
Twenty second Day of the eighth Month in the year One Thousand Seven Hundred &

Bucks Ssct?  This 29th Day of January Anno Domini 1772 appeared Isaac Pick
ering & Paul Preston two of the Witnesses to the win Will, who upon their
solemn affirmns did declare & say that They were Personally present and saw &
heard the win named Hugh Ely Sign Seal publish & declare the win Instrument
of Writing as & for his last Will & Testament and that at the Time of so doing
he was of sound mind & memory to the best of their Belief and

        Be it remembered that this 29th Day of January Anno Domini
        1772 was proved the last Will & Testament of Hugh Ely decd when 
  Seal  Lres Testamentary were granted to Thomas Ely & Hugn Ely
        the Exors therein named, who was duely qualified upon their solemn
        affirmmations well & truly to administer all the Goods &
Chattels Rights and Credits of the sd. decd, that They would win one month
from the date hereof exhibit into the Regrs Office for the County of Bucks a
true Inventory & confirma ble appraisement of the same by appraisers duely
qualified, and that They would render a true Accont of their whole Admn when
They might be there unto lawfully required In Testimony whereof I have affixed
the Seal of the said Office thereto the Day & Year afsd
