Will Nathanl: Burrows, #7443.
In the name of God Amen, I Nathaniel Burroughs [sic] of the Township of
Newtown, Bucks County & State of Pennsylvania being weak in body and of sound
mind, memory and understanding, but considering the uncertainty of this life
do make and publish this my Last will and Testament in manner and form
following, to wit.
First it is my will and I do order that all my just debts and funeral
expenses be duly paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently can be after my
decease: I give devise and bequeath unto my son Charles Burrows my plantation
situate in Buckingham Township containing one hundred and fifty five acres and
thirty eight perches Land, also a Lot containing three acres, the same to be
vested in my Executor hereinafter named his heirs and assigns in trust, the
rents issues and profits there of to be applied to the sole and separate use
and maintenance of my said son Charles for and during the term of his natural
life, and at his decease the proceeds to be equally divided among his children
share and share alike (subject nevertheless to the payment of the encumbrances
& Legacies charged upon the said premises. And I do hereby further authorize
and empower my executor to sell the said plantation if necessary for the
payment of debts and legacies and apply the interest arising from the
principal after payment of debts &c. for the sole and separate use and support
of my said son Charles for and during the term of his natural life as
aforesaid and at his decease divide the principal sum among his Children as
aforesaid share and share alike.-
I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Mary one thousand dollars to be
paid out of and to remain a charge upon my plantation hereby bequeathed to my
son Charles, so long as my said daughter Mary may be willing to let the said
sum remain in the land at five per cent per annum. I also give and bequeath
unto my said daughter Mary all my household furniture and ready money I may
have in my possession at the time of my decease.
I give and bequeath unto my two sons William and Joseph Burrows each one
hundred dollars to be paid one year after my decease. - And Lastly I nominate
constitute & appoint Jesse S. Heston to be the Executor of this my Last will
and Testament hereby revoking all other wills legacies and bequests by me
heretofore made and declaring this and no other to be my Last will and
Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 5th
day of June A.D. 1840.

Bucks County, Ss. On the Sixteenth day of September A. D. 1840 personally
appeared before me David Maspler Register of Wills in and for said County of
Bucks and on the fourteenth day of October A.D. 1840 Oliver Cadwallader
personally appeared before me David Drissel Deputy Register &c. the
Subscribing Witness to the annexed instrument of writing purporting to be the
Last Will and Testament of Nathaniel Burrows deceased, and being first duly
affirmed did depose and say that they were present and saw and heard Nathaniel
Burrows the Testator sign and seal publish and declare the annexed paper
writing as and for his Last will and Testament and that at the time of his
doing he was of sound mind memory and understanding to the best of their
knowledge and belief.

{Seal}Be it remembered that on the fourteenth day of October A. D.
1840 the annexed Last will and Testament of Nathaniel Burrows deceased, was
duly proved when Letter Testamentary thereon were granted until Jesse S.
Heston the Executor therein named he having been duly affirmed well and truly
to administer the goods and chattels, rights and credits, of said deceased
according to Law. And also diligently and faithfully to regard and well &
truly comply with the provisions of the law relating to collateral
inheritance. David Maspler - Register.
Additional Comments:
Nathaniel Burrows was born in Woodbridge, Middlesex County, New Jersey 4
February 1756 and died in near Newtown in Buckingham Township, Bucks County,
Pennsylvania 10 July 1840. He is buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery in
Newtown. He married in Newtown, Pennsylvania 21 September 1780 to Anna
Torbert, born Bucks County, Pennsylvania 1 August 1759 and died 24 October
1838. Anna (Torbert) Burrows is also buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery in
Newtown.
