PERSONS WHO DIED IN TYRONE
During the Year 1888 - Four Deaths Less Than Last Year - Record of the 
Number that Died in this Place the Past Eight Years.

  Following is the list of deaths which occurred in Tyrone during the 
year 1888, as kept by the City Editor of the Herald.
  Jan. 5. - Rev. William M. Meminger, of dropsy of the heart, aged 66 
yrs.  M. E. church.
  Jan. 6. - Alfred Baney, bar-keeper at Pennsylvania House, in his 30th 
year of inflammatory rheumatism.
  Jan. 6. - An infant child of Archie Miller.
  Jan. 7. - John Peppernick, a Hungarian, struck by Day Express on mail 
line and died at Tyrone station.
  Jan. 9. - An infant grand-child of Joseph Hughes.
  Jan. 9. - Mrs. Elnora, wife of John Stroup, apoplexy, 29 yrs., 5 
mos., and 1 day.  M. E. church.
  Jan. 17. - Anna L., daughter of Barney Rourk and wife, aged 9 years 
and mos. And 17 days; scarlet fever.
  Jan. 24. - Ettie, daughter of Newton and Ella Rhodes, 11 mos. 3 weeks 
and 1 day; cholera infantum.
  Feb. 1. - Paul, a five months old child of R. S. and Naomi Seeds; 
pneumonia.
  Feb. 5. - Jessie, daughter of S. W. and Amanda Stonebraker; 1 yr 10 
mos. and 7 days; whooping cough.
  Feb. 8. - An infant son of Jack Moulton.
  Feb. 9. - Albert, son of John F. Schrim and wife; 10 mos. and 6 days.
  Feb. 13. - Geo. W. Dean, aged 50 yrs. 1 month and 13 days; 
consumption.  U. B. church.
  Feb. 17. - An infant daughter of Christian Buck and wife.
  Feb. 22. - An infant child of Mrs. Carr.
  Feb. 29. - Lulu, daughter of T. S. and Mary J. McTinyre; 5 mos. and 
16 days.
  March 2. - Walter R., son of J. H. and Louisa Gibson of whooping 
cough, aged 9 mos. and 5 days.
  March 3. -  Mrs. Elizabeth B. Dey, aged 64 years.
  March 5. - Earl Benson, son of Jerry and Elizabeth Davis, aged 1 yr. 
and 2 months.
  March 10. - George Bilger died from injuries to his spine caused by 
being thrown from delivery wagon of VanValzah & Wilson.  Aged about 24 
yrs.
  March 10. - Emma M., daughter of Martin and Louisa Herzog, aged 17 
mos. and 4 days.
  March 29. - Mrs. Ann Farrell died of paralysis aged 67 yrs.  Catholic 
church.
  March 30. - B. W. Bell; pneumonia; aged 28 yrs., 5 mos. and 9 days.
  April 8. - Rebecca Hays; dropsy and cancer of the breast; 61 yrs.  
Presbyterian church.
  April 10. - John W., son of J. H. and Annie M. Meese; congestion of 
the lungs; aged 3 yrs. and 2 mos.
  April 14. - An infant son of J. H. and Annie M. Meese.
  April 20. - Charles Thomas, a Prussian brewer in the employ of Jos. 
Hewel.
  April 22. - Mrs. Jennie Rider of heart disease.
  April 25. - Aaron Jones died of pulmonary consumption, aged 37 yrs., 
9 mos. and 13 days.
  April 27. - An infant child of Hardin Gallagher and wife.
  May 6. - An infant child of F. R. Waring and wife.
  May 11. - An infant child of Hardin Gallagher and wife.
  May. 19. - Samuel M. Study; consumption; aged 58 yrs., 7 mos. and 19 
days.  Presbyterian church.
  June 5. - Mrs. Sarah Wallace; paralysis; aged 88 yrs.  M. E. church.
  June 7. - Frederick Rasher; consumption; aged 22 yrs.  Presbyterian 
church.
  June 16. - Mrs. Julia McCarron; aged 65 yrs.  Catholic church.
  June 20. - An infant child of James Pritchard and wife.
  June 21. - Jeremiah S. Watson; aged 52 yrs., 4 mos. and 18 days; 
consumption.  M. E. church.
  June 24. - An infant child of W. N. Weight and wife.
  June 27. - Charles, son of S. E. McFarland and wife; cholera 
infantum; 4 mos. and 6 days.
  July 2. - An infant child of Howard Rodgers and wife.
  July 13. - Mrs. Josephine Seeds; apoplexy; 56 yrs., 6 mos. and 20 
days.  Presbyterian church.
  July 15. - Mrs. W. B. Stewart; aged 28 yrs. and 10 mos.  M. E. 
church.
  July 18. - James A. McAllister; killed at Tyrone paper mill; aged 33 
yrs.
  July 25. - Eugene, daughter of F. H. and Maggie Young; cholera 
infantum; aged 3 mos. and 11 days.
  Aug. 8. - Mrs. Rosana McEnrue; aged 81 years.  Catholic church.
  Aug. 10. - An infant child of Blair Beal.
  Aug. 17. - Mrs. Sarah E. Nowlin; aged 58 yrs.  M. E. church.
  Aug. 19. - Mrs. Mary Palmer; aged 89 yrs.  Presbyterian church.
  Aug. 25. - Howard, son of D. T. Kennedy and wife; aged 8 mos.
  Aug. 31. - S. M. Nowlin; dysentery; aged 69 yrs. 6 mos. and 29 days.  
Member M. E. church.  For many years Mr. Nowlin kept the record of 
deaths as yearly published in the Herald.
  Sept. 1. - Mrs. Christian Buck; typhoid fever; aged 38 yrs.  M. E. 
church.
  Sept. 12. - Samuel Study, son of C. F. Blair and wife; aged 15 mos.
  Sept. 14. - Andrew E., son of Elmer E. Scruders and wife; aged 2 
weeks and 2 days.
  Oct. 5. - Walter, infant son of John F. and Ellen Sharp.
  Oct. 7. - Mrs. Ella L. Smith; aged 23 yrs.  M. E. church.
  Oct. 16. - Mrs. Jennie Bookhamer; muscular rheumatism; aged 51 yrs., 
8 mos. and 12 days.  M. E. church.
  Oct. 17. - W. K. Hicks, of Huntingdon, injured in attempting to jump 
on a freight train and died at P.R.R. station.
  Oct. 20. - Dr. George L. Barneck; ulceration of the stomach; aged 45 
yrs. 9 mos. and 25 days.  Catholic church.
  Oct. 23. - Mrs. Ellen Galbraith; aged 94 yrs., 11 mos. and 2 days.  
M. E. church.
  Oct. 29. - James A. Myers; apoplexy; aged 64 yrs., 6 mos. and 15 
days.
  Nov. 5. - William I. Cox; pneumonia and dropsy; aged 45 yrs., 1 month 
and 9 days.
  Nov. 17. - An infant son of George J. Gibbs and wife.
  Nov. 21. - Mrs. Susan Glaze; aged 82 yrs. and 3 months.  Lutheran 
church.
  Nov. 25. - Mrs. Martha J., wife of Bernard Rourk; consumption; aged 
42 yrs., 10 mos. and 8 days.  Presbyterian church.
  Nov. 27. - Charles Leslie, son of Daniel and Mary Fisher; aged 1 yr., 
6 mos. and 1 day.
  Dec. 10. - Annie M., daughter of F. J. and Mary McGovern; aged 11 
mos. and 13 days.
  Dec. 31. - Mrs. Adaline Anderson, aged 34 years.
