Submitter's note: The following obituary was read from microfilm borrowed
by my contact from the Kansas Library Loan system. Notice the misspelling
of Clarion as "Claring". I have his name and correctly spelled
birthplace and birthdate from his son's Social Security registration form.
Other sources place the grave more specifically in Section A of the Towanda
Cemetery.  I have also been going on the assumption that Bennie's middle name 
was spelled "Alonzo", but the obituary shows it as "Alanzo". Although I 
mention another misspelling in my original post, I believe that the 
relatives wouldn't have made a mistake on his name, so I am dropping 
my assumption for now.

"BENNIE A. WHITMORE DIES AT HOME IN TOWANDA
Bennie Alanzo Whitmore, 78, died at his home in Towanda, early Sunday morning.
A retired carpenter, he was born in Claring, Penn., June 4, 1875, moving
to El Dorado in 1929. He lived in Oil Hill for awhile and in 1947 moved
to Towanda.
He is survived by his wife, and two sons, H. B. Whitmore, Wichita, and
C.C. Whitmore, Wilcox, Arizona, and four grandchildren, two nephews and
two nieces.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, at the Bryd
Funeral Home in El Dorado. Rev. Charles Caulkins, officiated.
A mixed quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Sommers, Mrs. George
Weller, and Charley Maxey sang. Casket bearers were: Darrell Welty, Charley
Welty, Lawrence Welty, Lloyd Welty, George Welty, and Bertrum
Case.
Burial was made in the Towanda Cemetery."
