SAMUEL STOVER

Samuel Stover, one of the oldest and most highly respected citizen of Callensburg
this county passed away on January 28, 1892 in the 80th year of his age.
Deceased was among the pioneer residents of this section, a man active
in business in his younger days and one who ever possessed the confidence
and esteem of his friends and acquaintance. He was the father of 11 children,
eight of whom are still living, Mrs. M.W. Cope, wife of our County Treasure,
being one of his daughters. His wife preceeded him to the grave about one
year ago. In addition to the above he leaves 66 grandchildren, 36 great
grandchildren, and numerous other kindred to mourn his demise. For 45 years
he was a most devout member of the M. E. Church in the council of which
he will be sadly missed. The funeral occured Jan. 31st, an appropriate
sermon being preached to a large concourse of people by Rev. Shaner, after
which the remains were laid to rest in the Callensburg Cemetery.
