Amanda Slaugenhoup May 17, 1927
Mrs. Amanda Slaugenhoup departed this life at her home in Lafayette Street,
this place, Tuesday evening, May 17, 1927 at 11:15.
Some time during the night of May 10, Mrs. Slaugenhoup sustained a stroke of
paralysis. Her condition was not discovered until the following morning,
and since then she lay in an unconscious condition, being unable to move,
until she was called hence.
Deceased was a daughter of Isaac and Malinda (Hepler) Womeldorf, and was
born near Squirrel Hill, this county, April 12, 1862, which would make her
65 years, 1 month and 5 days old at the time of her death. She was the
oldest of a family of 11 children, six of whom, together with her father,
preceded her in death. The following survive: Her mother, who is 83 years
of age, W.I. of Cottage Hill, Mrs. J.P. Miles and Mrs. Jos. Minnich of New
Bethlehem; Mrs. A. C. Delp of St. Charles and Mrs. J.P. Delp of near
Seattle, Wash.
In 1885 she was united in marriage to Mr. J. R. Slaugenhoup, who preceded
her in death four years ago last March. There were no children to this
marriage. The death of her husband told on her and she had not been in good
health since that time.
Mrs. Slaugenhoup was a consistent member of the First Presbyterian church,
this place, and funeral services will be held at her home Friday afternoon
of this week at 3:00 oclock and will be conducted by her pastor, Rev. J.W.
Fraser. Interment under the direction of Charles White will be made in the
New Bethlehem cemetery.
