Dr. William G. Shively Died March 8, 1944
Dr. William G. Shively 79; Clarion county veteran. Died at his home in
Emlenton. Wednesday, March 8, 1944, following an illness of more than four
years. He was born in Salem township, Clarion county. December 16 1864, a
son of Thomas and Anna Showers Shively. He was the last member of his
family, five brothers and two sisters having preceded him in death.
He practiced his profession for 35 years in Clarion county. The family moved
to Emlenton last February. He was a member of the Salem Lutheran church,
the American Veterinary association. He was a past master of the Richland
Grange and had served a term on the Salem township school board.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Dieterich Shively and the following
children: Mrs. Grace Smith of Conneaut, Ohio; Charles L. Shively of
Bedford, Ohio; Walter P. Shively of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Gertrude Grimm and Mrs.
Edna A. Shorts of Emlenton, and eight grandchildren.
A funeral service was held in the Salem Lutheran church at Lamartine
Saturday, March 11, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Frank H. Miller pastor in
charge. Interment was made in Salem cemetery
