Randas M. Foringer died at his home in Porter Twp. at 4 o'clock, Friday
Aug. 27, 1938, following an illness of several months duration. He was
born Jan 8, 1876, and was sixty-two years old. He had spent almost his
entire life in that community having been reared by the late Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Foringer.
On Oct 15, 1901 he married Miss Mary Luella Hamm who died March 9, 1924.
To them were born five children, all of whom are living. They are: Harold,
Ashtubula Oh; Ethel taught at the Porter Twp. Cosolidated School; Henry,
who lives on the home place; Mrs John(Catherine) Stover,Bradford; and Russell,Clarion.
On April 6, 1929, Mr. Foringer married Emma Fox Weaver. She together with
five children survive: Wellington Weaver,Porter Twp; Mrs A.A. Mills, Clarion;
Elias Weaver knox; David and Ronald at home.
Mr. Foringer is also survived by four half brothers and one half sister:
Clinton Silvis, Apollo; John and Charles Silvis,New Bethlehem; Frank Silvis,
Putneyville; Mrs. Margaret Shrecengost, New Bethlehem.
Mr Foringer, in his youth, obtained an excellent education and spent a
number of years as a teacher. When war was declared by the United States
against Spain, he volunteered as a member of Company G 15 Reg. Penn. Infantry.
He was given a honorable discharge at the close of the war.
For seven years Mr. Foringer was secretary of the Leatherwood Telephone
Company and made a good record in this capacity. He ddisplayed great interest
in vqarious phases of agriculture and did much to organize farmers into
cooperative groups. He had a wide knowledge of farming, and his opinions
along this line were regarded highly.
Funeral sevice for Mr. Foringer was held Tuesday of this week in the Leatherwood
Presbyterian church of which he was a member. Ther Rev. R.E. Kern, of Clarion,
was in charge with the Rev. Mr. colwell, of Distant, assisting. Interment
was made in the church cemetery under the direction of Mortician R.R. Hawk,
of Sligo.
