GEORGE W. MOORE, Spragg's, Penn., was born in Whiteley Township, Greene
County, January 3, 1834.  His parents, James and Matilda (FRANKS) MOORE,
were also natives of this county, where after marriage they settled and
remained all their lives.  After Matilda's death, Mr. Moore married
Elizabeth (BROWN) PROVENCE, who is still living.  Mr. Moore is
deceased.  He was the father of eleven children, six living.  George W.
is the third child, and was united in marriage, July 26, 1859 with
Louisa R. PHILLIPS, born in Cumberland Township, September 26, 1840, a
daughter of Job and Margaret (SIMINGTON) PHILLIPS, natives of Greene
County, where they remained until Mrs. Phillips' death, after which he
married Mary MASON.  To Mr. and Mrs. Moore have been born seven
children - James E., Thomas L., Job, Peter C., Elizabeth L., Lafy E. and
Matilda M.  Mr. Moore's occupation is that of farming and stock-dealing,
and he owns 275 acres of land in Wayne Township.  He and wife are among
the most prominent members of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
