    Thomas Scott, farmer, P.O. Rutan, Penn, was born in 
Center Township, Greene County, December 24, 1834. His 
parents, Elias and Harriet (Kent) Scott, were natives of 
this county, where they were married and remained through 
life. Mr. Scott died August 20, 1884, and his wife June 14, 
of the same year. 
  
    On September 13, 1855, Thomas Scott married Elizabeth A. 
Turner. Mrs. Scott was born in Greene County, June 12, 1838, 
and is a daughter of Rev. James L. and Nancy (Patterson) 
Turner. Her father was a native of New York and her mother 
of Greene County, Penn. Both are now deceased. By this 
marriage Mr. Scott is the father of eight children - Wesley 
S., Walter P., Elias, Harriett N., Ida L., Albert F., Carrie 
E., and James E. Mrs. Scott died July 16, 1876. 
  
    Mr. Scott was subsequently united in marriage December 
20, 1879, with Anna B. Drake, who was born in Greene County, 
October 5, 1849. Her parents, Francis and Eliza Drake, were 
natives of this county. Mr. Drake is deceased. By the second 
marriage Mr. Scott is the father off three children - Harry 
R., Leah N. and William. 

    Mr. Scott has been a farmer all his life, and owns 133 
acres of land where he and his family live, besides property 
in West Virginia. He has been a member of the school board 
of his township. He and Mrs. Scott belong to the Methodist 
Protestant Church, of which his deceased wife was also a 
devout member.
