C.W. Scott, farmer, Rutan, Penn was born December 16,
1837, on the farm where he and family reside in Center
Township. He is the son of John and Mary A. Scott (nee
Teagarden), who were natives of Pennsylvania and residents
of Greene County until their death. Mrs. Scott departed this
life in 1856, and her husband lost his life in a collision
on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, near Columbus, Ohio,
October 6, 1860. They were the parents of four children.

On October 6, 1859, C. W. Scott was united in marriage
with Rachel Webster, who was born in this county November
30, 1839. Her parents were John and Elizabeth (Cowell)
Webster, also natives of this county. Mr. Webster died in
1871 and Mrs. Webster in 1874. To Mr. and Mrs. Scott have
been born five children, four living - William H., George
M., John, Flora and Mary E. (deceased). Mr. Scott was raised
on a farm, spent his life in farming, and is now the owner
of 124 acres of land. He has served as director of the poor
in Greene County for three years. Mrs. Scott is a faithful
member of the Baptist Church.
