Marriage Record : Samuel Tate & Elizabeth Preas
Know all men by these presents that we, Samuel Tate and Nathaniel
F. Thorton, are held firmly bound unto Littleton W. Tazewell Esq.,
Govern. or Chief Magistrate of the Commonwealth of Virginia in the
justfull sum of one hundred and fifty dollars current money of
Virginia to the payment whereof well truly to be made to the said
governor or his succesor in office we bind ourselves and each of
us our and each of our heirs, exec., and administrators, jointly
and severally firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals and
dated this 5th day of December 1835.
The condition of the above obligation is such that where as there
is a marriage shortly intended to be had and solemnized between
the above bound Samuel Tate and Elizabeth Preas.
If therefore there be no legal cause to obstruct the same then the
above obligation to be said else to remain in full force and
virtue.

certificate for issuing marriage license to Samuel Tate to marry
me, Elizabeth Preast, as I have become of age under the laws of
Virginia to give such certificate for the issuing of such license
and cannot obtain them otherwise.

Know all Men by these presents that we, Henry Preas and Thomas
Preas,are held and firmly bound unto Beverley Randolp Esquire,
Governor or Chief Magistrate of the State of Virginia in the Sum
of Fifty pounds current money to which payment well and truly to
be made to the said Beverley Randolph or to his ?sucupors. We
bind ourselves and each of us our and each of our joint and
several, Heirs, Executors, and administrators, firmly by these
presents, sealed with our seals and dated this 3rd day of December
1791. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas
there is a marriage shortly intended to be had and solemnized
between the above bound, Henry Preas and Rachel Jarred. Now if
there shall be no lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage then
the above obligation is to be bound else to remain in full force
and virtue.

executors, and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by
these presents. Sealed and dated this 15th November 1799.
The condition of the above obligation is suh, that where as there
is a marriage shortly intended to be had and solemnized between
the above bound Joseph Preast and Sarah Eads. Now if there shall
be no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage, then the above
obligation to be void, or else to remain in full force and virtue.

governor or chief magistrate of the commonwealth of Virginia to
the true payment which bind myself, my heirs and our seals dated
this 14th day of March 1807.
The condition of this above obligation is such that whereas there
is marriage shortly intended to be had and solemnized between the
above bound, Phillip Pendleton and Patsey Preast.
Now of these shall be unlawful cause to obstruct the said marriage
then the above obligation to be void else to remain in full force
and virtue.

to be made to the said James Wood unto his successor we bind
ourselves and each of us our and each of our heirs, executors and
administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by thes presents.
Sealed with our seals and dated the 20th day of March 1799.
The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there
is a marriage shortly intended to be had and solemnized between
the above bound Henry Baker and Rebecca Preast.
Now if there shall be no lawful cause to obstruct the said
marriage then the above obligation to be void else to remain in
full force and virtue.
