"Daily Local News" July 8, 1915
     At the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Dowlin, South Walnut street, the 
marriage of their only daughter, Miss Alice Conway Dowlin, and William Eugene 
Speas, of North Bend, North Carolina, occurs at six o'clock this evening.
     The ceremony will be performed by Rev. Charles R. Williamson, Ph. D., 
pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church, in the presence of relatives and a 
few close friends.
     The wedding party will include Miss Elsie M. Smith, of West Chester, as 
maid of honor, and Howard H. Dowlin, brother of the bride, as best man.
     Little Louise Boner, of Collingswood, New Jersey, will be flower girl, 
and, William Dowlin, 3d, the bride's little 'nephew, page.
     Miss Bertha E. Sellers, of Parkesburg, will play the wedding march.

      At six o'clock, last evening, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. 
William Dowlin, South Walnut street, Miss Alice Conway Dowlin became the bride 
of William Eugene  Speas, of East Bend, North Carolina, an instructor in 
Clemson College, South Carolina.
     The wedding was a quiet one, most of the guests being relatives, although 
a few intimate friends were included.
     The house was tastefully decorated with palms and potted ferns, the color 
note, yellow, being dominant in the dining room, where daisies and other Summer 
flowers were used in profusion.
     The ceremony was performed by Rev. Charles R. Williamson, pastor of 
Westminster Presbyterian Church, the bridal party entering the room to the 
strains wedding music played by Miss Bertha E .Seller, of Parkesburg, an 
intimate friend of the bride.
     The bride was charmingly gowned in white crepe meteor, with pearl 
trimmings, her veil held in place by the customary orange blossoms.  She 
carried a shower bouquet of bride roses.  
     Her maid of honor, Miss Elsie M. Smith, of West Chester, wore yellow crepe 
de chine, veiled in lavender chiffon.  Her bouquet was of roses in deep yellow 
shade.
     The best man was Howard H. Dowlin, brother of the bride.
     Little Louise Boner, of Collingswood, N. J., was flower girl and the small 
nephew of the bride, little William Dowlin3d., acted as page.
     Mr. and Mrs. Speas left for a honeymoon trip, after which they will return 
to the Dowlin home for a little time before going to Clemson College, where the 
groom is an instructor.
     Miss Dowlin is a graduate of the West Chester High School, and of the 
Normal School here, and taught in the borough schools for a time.  Recently she 
has been teaching in the Friends' School, in Baltimore.  She was born and grew 
up here, and has a host of friends who wish her every happiness in her new life.
