Written: October 30, 1801

In the Name of God Amen, I Joseph Adams of the Township of West Fallowfield in 
the County of Chester & State  Pennsylvania, Being weak in body but of sound 
and Perfect Mind and Memory.  Blessed be Almighty God for the same, 
considering the uncertainty of this Mortal life and knowing if it appointed 
for All Men once to die, Do Make and Publish this my last Will and Testament 
in Manner and form following (that is to say) I will that my just Debts& 
Funeral Expenses be Paid by my Execter  be Paid by my Execter hereafter named 
as soon as Conveniently may be after my Decease.  

Item  I, give and Bequeath unto my Dearly and well Beloved Wife Ann Adams the 
use of the Mantion House I now live in with the Eight day clock now Standing 
in the said House with one half of the garden and one half o f the Spring 
House and a Sufficient Quantity of the fire wood to be cut and hauled to the 
House, also her choice of the Horses or Mares and Saddle and Bridle, the 
choice of one of the cows with two sheep with sufficient Pasture for them, 
also a sufficientcy of Hay to keep them every winter likewise fodder at such 
times as nature may require without any charge to her, and all her wearing 
apparel also my Bed and Bed cloaths and all the furniture that belongs, the 
chest of Drawrs that now stands in my bed room with half a dozen of chairs and 
all the Tea Furniture and her choice of one of the Pots with all the kitchen 
furniture she brought with her when we married.  Likewise all the household 
furniture she brought with her, also tow hundred and fifty pound of wheat 
flour and one hundred pounds of bacon and fifty pounds o beef and twenty 
shillings in gold or silver money yearly and every year during her natural 
life or Widdow Hood , to be fulfilled as ? & Paid by my heirs, And after her 
death or Decease, the above black horse or Mare Saddle & Bridle cow sheep bed 
and bed cloths chest of Drawers & chairs return back to the personal estate.  
I also give and bequesth unto my ten grand children namely, Richard Adams, 
Ruth Heslett, Isabel Adams, David Weldon, Lydia Weldon, Jacob Wilson, John 
Weldon, Lydia Gibson, Andrew Gibson and Joseph Gibson the sum of apiece except 
Isabel Adams which being infirm shall receive fifteen pounds all the aforesaid 
legacies is to be paid in the gold or silver money within on year and three 
months after my decease

Item, I give and bequeath unto my Daughter inlaw Rebecca Adams the sum of 
forty shillings 

Item, I also give and Bequeath unto my son in law Jacob Gibson the sum of 
Forty shillings both latter to be paid within one months after my decease, My 
will is that my sister Ann Woodrow shall have the room she has in with free 
priviledge to cut and haul firewood off any part of the estate which shall be 
least detrimental, likewise fee priviledge to ? ? to and from her room without 
the least let hinderance of molestation of an person whatsoever, I further 
give and devise unto my son James Adams and my daughter Hannah Gilleland wife 
to James Gilleland all my real estate Messuage or Tenement situate living and 
being in the Township of West Fallowfield Chester County & State  - Together 
with all my other freehold Estate whatsoever.  To hold to them.  James Adams & 
Hannah Gilliland their Heirs and Assigns forever share and share alike or 
equally divided between them.  If there is any personal Estate remaining 
before or after the decease of my wife Ann Adams my will is taht it be divided 
between the above legatees in proportion to the several sums bequeath to them, 
and I do nominate constitute and appoint my son inlaw James Gilliland and my 
Son James Adams whole and sole executors of this my Last Will and Testament 
and do hereby give my  Execter full power & authority to have this my ? Andy I 
do Declare this to be my last Will and Testament as witness my hand and seal 
the twelvth day of September the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred & 
Ninety One.

Sealed Published Pronounced and Declared by the Joseph Adams as and his Last 
Will and Testament for the Presence of those who have subscribed our nems 
heretoin his presence & his request
