Last Will and Testament of Isabella Gellaspie


The Last Will and Testament of Isabella Gellasie, dec'd.

In the name of God Amen I Isabella Gellaspie of the 
township of Carroll in the County of Cambria, State of 
Pennsylvania being weak of body but of strong mind and 
memory praise be Almighty God for the same, and knowing the 
certainty of death do make and publish this as my last will 
and testament hereby revoking and making void all former 
wills made at any time heretofore.

First, I give immortal soul to Almighty God who gave 
it and my body to this Earth to be (?) decently intered 
(sic) in a Christian like manner after my death.  I order 
and direct my Executor hereinafter named to pay all my just 
debts and funeral expenses out of the first money that 
shall [come] into their hands from any portion of estate. 
 
Item first I will and bequeath unto my son Mark 
Gellaspie the sum of fifty dollars to be paid as follows: 
one year after my decease he shall draw the Twelve dollars 
and fifty cents in clothing, and so annually until the 
above bequest is paid, but in no case shall he have any 
part of the above bequest in money.  I will and bequeath to 
my grand daughter Isabella Francis Gellaspie all of my 
stock of Sheep.  I will and bequeath unto my two daughters 
Elizabeth Dick and Agnes Adams all my household and kitchen 
furniture and cattle to be divided equal, share and share 
alike.  And I further will and bequeath unto the Reverend 
Giles Christopher the ballance (sic) of my Estate after it 
is settled and collected or to his successor as Parish 
Priest at Carrolltown, Pennsylvania for the purpose of 
having mass read for me and my family after death.

I hereby nominate, constitute and appoint and make 
Henry (?) Scanlon my true and [blank] Executor of this may 
last Will and testament.  In Witness whereof I have 
hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty eighth day of 
June Anno Domino one thousand eight hundred and sixty

presence of each declared by the testator as her last Will 
and testament to which we have hereunto set our hands as

Before me E. J. Lytle Register for the probate of 
Wills and granting letters of administration in and for 
said County personally came Henry Hopple and Charles 
Kennedy the subscribing witnesses to the above instrument 
of writing, who being duly sworn according to law, do 
depose and say that they were present and saw and heard the 
above named Isabella Gellaspie sign, seal, seal, publish, 
pronounce and declare the same as and for her last Will and 
testament and at the time of so doing she was of perfect 
and sound mind memory and understanding to the best of 
their knowledge, observation and belief.
