Will of William SPARR, dated May 8, 1865 In the name of God, Amen. I, William Sparr, of Woodberry Township, in the County of Blair and State of Pennsylvania, Farmer, being weak in body and sound mind, memory and understanding, praised be God for the same, Do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following, to wit: First: It is my Will and I do order that all my just debts and funeral expenses by duly paid and satisfied, as soon as conveniently can be after my decease. Item: It is my Will that my Executor hereafter named shall make sale of all my personal property (except such as my dear wife may choose and get by bequest) as soon as can be done after my decease, the proceeds of the said sale to be applied (after paying all legal costs and expenses) to the payment of my just debts, and if there shall be any balance left, my will is that said balance if any be paid to my children share and share alike, to my daughter Mary Catharine one share; to my daughter Elizabeth H. one share; to my daughter Lucinda B. one share; to my daughter Rebecca Jane one share, to my son David one share, and to my son John T. one share, to be paid to each of my said children when they each arrive to the age of twenty one years. Item: It is my will that my wife Rachel shall get all the meat, lard, apple butter, and all other eatable matters that may be in the house at my decease; also my said wife shall have as much wheat as she may want for herself and children for one year from my decease. It is my will also that my said wife have one cow four hogs or shoats for to kill this fall for her winter meat, and two shoats for keeping over winter. Item: It is my will that my said wife get as much firewood off the farm as she may want for one year. Also feed for her cow until the first day of June A.D. 1866. All of the foregoing bequests to my wife to be furnished to her by my executors and to be given to her independent of Dower and what she will be entitled to by law. Item: It is my will that my share in the estate of Father David Sparr, deceased, be ascertained as soon as can be conveniently be done by my Executors, and after my dear wife get her dower, it is my will that the balance be equally divided share and share alike, and paid to my said mentioned children when they arrive each to majority. It is my will that my wife Rachel take the house to, and the four acres more of less of land attached to the same, being the same house and lot got from K. Patterson, at the Appraisement of the same for the use of herself and children. Item: It is my will that my brother Isaac Sparr shall have the tuition and guardianship of all my children during my [their?] minority, and I earnestly intend his utmost care in and about the morals and education of my said children. It is my will that my said brother Isaac put the share due to each of my said children on interest, with good security for the payment of the same, and pay to each one their share as herein before stated. Lastly: And lastly, I nominate constitute and appoint my esteemed friends John D. Rop, M.D. and Joseph R. Hewitt both of the Town of Williamsburg in the County of Blair, and State aforesaid to be the Executors of this my Last Will hereby revoking all other will, legacies and bequests by me heretofore made, and declaring this and no other, to be my Last Will and Testament.
