The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ___________________________________________________________ Last Will and Testament of John Riling Senior Blair County Will Book D, p. 392 Know all men by these present that I, John Riling Senior, of Logan in the County of Blair and State of Pennsylvania Yeoman being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this my Last will and testament. First in consideration of natural affection as well as his assurance to care for and keep me during my lifetime I give and bequeath to my son Levi all my personal property of whatever kind I may be the owner of at my death as well as all claims or demands I have or may have against him for the personal property he purchased from me at a public ------? I had on the third day of December 1875. ITEM: Having heretofore loaned to my son William 400.00 and upwards at different times I release him from the payment of said sum save and except the sum of $150.00 which I require him to pay to my co-executors here after named which sum of $150.00 where so received by my executors shall be paid to my sons John and Alexander each 1/2 viz: $75.00 each, in return for kindness and services rendered me when I was building my barn. ITEM: I direct my co-executors or the survivors of them after my decease to have all my real estate appraised and sold subject to lease of the same given to my son Levi which lease was in the Spring of 1856, and I hereby give my co- executors or the survivors of them full power to sell the same at either public or private sale whichever shall be most advantageous and on such terms as they shall judge best having in view the interest of all concerned and I also give my executors or co-executors full power to convey the same by deed or deeds to the purchaser or purchasers. The amount realized from the sale of said real estate I direct shall be equally divided between my six sons William, John, Levi, Alexander, David, Martin, share and share alike and if my executor cannot collect the sum of $150.00 from my son William as before mentioned, then I direct that said sum of $150.00 shall be taken from William's share of the sale of the real estate and given to my sons John and Alexander, each one half in addition to their share. ITEM: Whatever money I may have at my decease after paying the doctors expenses I desire shall be divided equally between my said sons share and share alike and I further want it understood among my sons that the sum of $75.00 given to my son John is for boarding last year and the same sum given to Alexander is for help rendered me in building. ITEM: I ordain and appoint my sons Levi and Alexander as executors of this my last will and testament and it is my sincere wish that no dispute may arise or disagreement may occur among my sons in carrying out in good faith my request as herein set forth. In testamony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal and publish and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament in the presence of the witnesses named before this eleventh day of March A.D. 1880. Livingston register for the probate of wills and granting letters of administration in and for the county of Blair personally came Charles J. Mann and Peter Fogle the subscribing witnesses to the above will and being duly sworn according to law did depose and say they are personally present and saw and heard John Riling Senior, the testator, sign, seal, publish, pronounce and declare the foregoing instrument or writing as and for his testament and last will, that they signed their names in the presence and at the request of the said testator and in the presence of each other, and the time of signing he said the testator was of perfect and sound mind memory and understanding to the best of his knowledge and beliefs sworn and subscribed before me. Mann Peter Fogle Blair County SS Before me the Register for the Probate of Wills and granting Letters of Administration in and for the County of Blair personally came Levi Riling and Alexander Riling and being duly sworn do depose and say that as Executors of the Last Will and testament of John Riling Sr. deceased they will truly administer the goods and chattles rights and credits which were of said deceased according to law. Also that the state and effects real and personal in respect of which the above probate is applied for exceed the sum of $4000.00 to the best of their knowledge and belief. Sworn and subscribed before me this 12th day of October A.D. 1880 A. Livingston, Register Levi Riling Alex Riling Levi Riling and Alex Riling Executors of John Riling Senior deceased. Memorandum proof of health filed letters of testimentary were this day issued to Levi Riling and Alex riling Executors of John Riling Senior, deceased.
