Blair County, PA Willbook A, p. 140
A True Copy of the Last Will and Testament of Abraham Klotz, decd.
In the Name of God, Amen I, Abraham Klotz of Greenfield Township, Blair County,
and State of Pennsylvania, being sick and weak in body, but of sound mind memory
and understanding (praise be God for it), considering the certainty of Death and
the uncertainty of the time thereof, and to the end, I may be the better
prepared to leave this world, whenever it should please God to call me hence, do
therefore make and declare this my Last Will and Testament (in manner following,
that is to say) --
First, and principally, I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God, my
Creator, who gave it, and my body to the earth to be interred at the discretion
of my Executors, hereinafter named, and as to such worldly estate, wherewith it
hath pleased God to intrust to me -- I dispose of the same as follows: I give
and bequeath all my real and personal estate of whatsoever kind the same may be,
at the time of my decease to my dear and loving wife Margaret Klotz to be held
and enjoyed by her in raising and educating my infant minor children, till my
youngest child shall arrive to lawful age, at which time I direct that my real
property be appraised, agreeable to the Laws of Pennsylvania, in such case made
and provided, and that any of my children may take the same at the appraised
amount, agreeable to said Law, or let it be sold at their own pleasure, and the
amount thereof with the Balance of my personal estate then remaining to be
equally divided amongst my loving children share and share alike, after my
loving Wife's lawful dower is first taken out.
And whereas my dear Old Father, now living with me, has made hi Last Will and
Testament some years ago, and by that Testament, he left me the Plantation and
Tract of land whereon I now dwell with him -- Should my Dear Old Father's Will
and Testament stand unchanged till after his decease -- it then is my Will and
meaning, that my loving Wife shall stay on the Plantation, (where I now dwell),
with my children, and raise and educate them. She and my children she only for
them enjoying all the profits arising from said Plantation, also with the real
and personal estate, belonging to me as above bequeathed, till my youngest child
shall arrive to lawful age, at which time I direct said Plantation to be
appraised an disposed of, as I have already described above with my own real
property, and at the same time -- and all equally divided amongst my loving
children share and share alike after my loving wife's lawful Dower is first
taken out.
Now, it is expressly my Will and meaning after the Decease of my dear Old
Father, if any money is needed by his Last Will and Testament from me, that my
Executors pay the same out of my personal estate. I now direct that all money
coming to me, and standing out at interest at the time of my decease shall be
under the control of my Executors (and if not needed by my loving wife, the same
to be kept at interest in good and safe places by my Executors.)
It is also my Will and meaning, if my loving wife should marry again, at any
time after my decease, before my lawful child becomes of lawful age, I then
direct that my personal property remaining shall be appraised and sold by my
Executors (except her then husband shall give approved security for the amount
thereof to my Executors, to be paid with interest, when my youngest child shall
arrive to lawful age, at which time a final settlement and distribution of all
my real and personal estate is to take place).
And I do hereby constitute and appoint John Klotz and Philip Pringle, Executors
of this my Will, hereby revoking and making void all former and other wills by
me at any time heretofore made, and declaring this only to be my Last Will and
Testament.
In Witness Whereof, I have to this my last Will and Testament, set my hand and
seal, the eleventh day of October, A.D. eighteen hundred and forty eight.
