Last Will & Testament of Armstrong Crawford Dec'd

In the name of GOD, Amen, I, Armstrong Crawford of Tyrone, Blair Co, State of 
Pennsylvania, retired Farming being of sound and disposing mind and memory do 
make and publish this to be my last Will and Testament hereby remaking and 
making void all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made.
First - I direct my Executors hereinafter appointed to pay all my just debts and 
funeral expenses out of the first money that may come into their hands.
Second - I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Margaret Crawford, my House and 
lot situated on Logan Street, in the Borough of Tyrone adjoining the lot of 
ground and premises now owned by Jeremiah C. Burley.  Also One Thousand Dollars 
in money and all my Household and Kitchen furniture and all other personal goods 
and Chattels excepting money or evidences of indebtedness and whatever grain and 
have shall be left after giving to my said wife sufficient for the use of 
herself and family for one year after my decease.  I also give and bequeath unto 
her my beloved wife, on third of all the grain that may be raised upon my 
mansion farm on which my son, Russell, now resides in the Township of Tyrone, 
and also on loads of hay herefrom, and I do hereby direct that the same shall be 
delivered to her yearly for and during her natural life, and my will is that 
from and after her death, the said house and lot of ground in the Borough of 
Tyrone aforementioned, and also all of the household and kitchen furniture 
connected with the same, shall belong to my five daughters viz: to Sarah Ann, 
Lucinda, Frances E., and Margaret S. Crawford.
Third - I do authorized and empower my Executors to take charge of my said Farm, 
upon which my son, Russell, now lives in, the Township of Tyrone, which contains 
one hundred and three acres and twenty six perches and allowance; And also the 
one acre and one hundred and thirty seven perches adjoining the said Farm and 
convey to me by John Crawford by his Deed dated 21st day of December, A.D. 1870 
and do make all necessary and prudent bargains and arrangements for having these 
tracts or pieces of land properly farmed or cultivated.  And I also give to 
them, my said Executors, control and authority over and of my timbered land 
situate in said Township consisting of about seventy seven acres, conveyed to me 
by Samuel P. Wallace said control to continue for and during the natural life of 
my bellowed wife and the uses and purposes of said Farm tract of piece of land.  
Fourth - At and from the death of my beloved wife, I give and bequeath to my 
son, Russell, my said mansion Farm, the additional one acre and one hundred and 
thirty some (acres with lines drawn thru the word0 perches.  And also the 
aforesaid timberland; all of which are thereinfore mentioned by his paying to my 
Executor the sum of  Five Thousand and Five Hundred Dollars on the payment of 
which by him, my said son to my said Executors, the title to all of the said 
tracts and pieces of land above mentioned shall vest in him, his heirs, & 
assigns forever.
Fifth - I do authorize and empower my said Executors to sell and convey in fee 
simple to the purchaser any other Real Estate not herein otherwise disposed of 
upon such items as they shall deem advantageous to my Estate, provided the same 
shall not have been sold and conveyed by me during my natural life.
Sixth - I have paid to my son, John, the sum of Fifteen hundred dollars, to my 
son, Alexander, the sum of Fifteen hundred Dollars; to my daughter, M. Eleanor 
Morrow, the sum of Fifteen hundred dollars, to my daughter, Mary Jane Burkett, 
the sum of fifteen hundred Dollars; to my son Mark Graham, the sum of Sixteen 
hundred dollars and to my son, James Armstrong, the sum of sixteen hundred and 
ninety two Dollars as will be seem by their receipts in my possession, and any 
further sums I may pay to my children or to any of them and take their receipts 
bought with my Estate and they are to be considered as payments made upon the 
several sums bequeathed to them.
Seventh - I give unto my Daughters Sarah Anne, Lucinda, Frances E. and Margaret 
S. each the sum of one Thousand dollars in addition to the aforementioned 
property in the Borough of Tyrone.  I also I give and bequeath to my son, Mark 
Graham, the further sum of five hundred dollars and to my daughter, Mary Jane 
Burkett, the further sum of Five Hundred Dollars.
Eighth - Whatever surplus of my Estate may remain in the hands of my Executors 
after paying all my last debts and satisfying all the foregoing bequests and 
provisions and costs of administration, I hereby direct to divide into nine 
shares among my Eleven children viz to John One Share, to Mark Graham One Share, 
to Eleanor One Share, to Alexander One Share, to Mary Jane One Share, to Russell 
One Share, and to James Armstrong One Share; and two shares to be equally 
divided between my four Daughters, Sarah Anne, Lucinda, Frances E., and Margaret 
S. and the release of my sons John and Alexander Executed upon their receiving 
fifteen hundred dollars Each shall not prevent them from receiving their equal 
shares of the said surplus if there shall be any such.
Ninth - I direct that all my personal property, bequeathed to my bellowed wife 
for and during her natural life, be delivered to her by my Executors without 
requiring the security provided for by the act of assembly in such cases.
Lastly, I nominate, constitute and appoint as Executors of this my last will and 
Testament, my son, James Armstrong Crawford and Samuel W. Barr giving to them or 
the survivor of them full power to carry out its provision.
In Witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this eighteenth 
day of September A.D. (1877 with strikeouts) One Thousand Eight Hundred and 
Seventy Seven.

I hereby make this codicil to my Last Will and Testament as follows:  I 
authorize ______ my executors named in my last will and Testament or he 
survivors of them, to sell the Mansion House with their improvements on the Lot 
(being the same House and Lot divided in my will to my five daughters Sarah Ann, 
Lucinda, Frances E. and Margaret S.) in one year after the death of my beloved 
wife, and the proceeds to be equally divided between my said Four Daughters 
(except the sum of One Thousand Dollars which is to go to my estate.
Witness my hand and seal to this Codicil to my Last Will and Testament 
this Thirtieth day of August A.D. 1815.

This 4th day of May A.D. 1877 before me, A. Lingenfelter, Register for the 
Probate of Will and granting Letters of Administration in and for the County of 
Blair, personally came James M. Calderwood and W. O. Myers, the subscribing 
Witnesses to the above will and being dully sworn did depose and say they were 
personally present and saw and heard Armstrong Crawford the Testator sign, seal, 
publish, promise and declare the foregoing instrument of writing as and for his 
testament and last Will that they signed their names in the presence and at the 
request of the said testator and in the presence of each other and that at the 
time of so doing be the said testator was of perfect and sound mind, memory, and 
understanding to the best of their Knowledge and belief.

Before me the register of Will and granting Letters of Administration when 
in and for the County of Blair, personally came James Armstrong Crawford and 
Samuel W. Barr, who being duly sworn did depose and say that as Executors of the 
last Will and Testament of Armstrong Crawford, deceased, they will well and 
truly administer the Goods and Chattels, rights and credits of said decd 
according to law and that the whole of the Estate and Effect real and personal 
for or in respect of which the above Probate is applied for does not in value 
exceed the sum of Twenty Three Thousand five hundred Dollars to the best of 
their knowledge and belief.

Memorandum. P__ of Death filed Letters Testamentary were this day issued to 
James A. Crawford and Samuel W. Barr on the Estate of Armstrong Crawford late of 
Tyrone, Blair County, deceased.  Inventory and appraisement to be filed within 
Thirty days and a just and true account and accounting after the said 
administration within one year from the date hereof.  Witness my hand and seal 
this 4th day of May A.D. 1877.
Inventory and appraisement filed June 21, 1877 amounting to $ 11,352.61.
