The Last Will and Testament of James Conrad, dec'd }

In the Name of God, Amen.  I, James Conrad, being weak in body but sound in 
mind, knowing the certainty of Death and the uncertainty of the time thereof, do 
make this my Last Will and Testament.
First, I direct that all my just debts be paid.
2nd I bequeath 2nd that the children of my son David, Dec'd shall be paid two 
hundred and fifty Dollars each.  
3rd I bequeath to the widow of my son David the sum of one hundred dollars out 
of the first moneys that shall come into the hands of my Executors.
4th I bequeath to the children of my daughter Eliza (married to Jerome Dawson) 
the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars each.
5th I bequeath to my son James the sum of two thousand dollars which he has 
already received as a credit for on the purchase money on Mill property, subject 
to a deduction in case my estate shall not reach the amount of my bequests.
5th [sic] I bequeath to the children of my daughter Margaret the sum of Seven 
hundred dollars each.
6th I bequeath to my son Henry the sum of two hundred dollars; also one hundred 
which I am to pay or cause to be paid to Josiah Christy (my son-in-law) for said 
Henry, together with any and all notes or accounts I hold against him (my son 
Henry) the payment whereof is hereby released.
7th I will and bequeath to my Daughter Rebecca Ann (married to Josiah Christy) 
the sum of fifteen hundred dollars.
8th I bequeath to my son William the sum of two thousand dollars which he has 
this day been allowed on the purchase money of farm this day conveyed to him.
9th I bequeath to my daughter Adeline the sum of Fifteen hundred Dollars from 
which there is to be deducted one hundred and forty dollars already advanced to 
her.
10th I bequeath to my son Albert the sum of fifteen hundred dollars from which 
there is to be deducted the amount charged against him on my books.
11th I will and bequeath to my Son Vincent de Paul the sum of One thousand 
dollars, and
12th I direct that the house belonging to me in Newry shall remain unsold by my 
executors during the natural life of my Widow to be occupied by her, together 
with to [sic] lot belonging thereto.

And lastly I constitute and appoint my personal friend Peter O'Hagan my Executor 
with full power to do all acts for the faithful discharge of the duties of his 
Executorship subject to the following instructions in case of my death during 
the coming Summer.  My son William with the advice of my executor will carry on 
the farm I now live on and the farm West of Newry until the fall crop is sown 
and the present Crops cut and gathered in, when (say in December) he (my 
executor) will after due notice sell at public Sale all my personal property to 
the best advantage and within One year after my Death (or as soon thereafter as 
possibly without detriment to the same) shall after due notice sell all my real 
estate (except the house reserved for my Widow) to the highest and best bidders 
And in case there should be an overplus remaining in the hands of my executors 
after paying all my bequests, it shall be divided between my heirs in proportion 
to their respective shares, except the Children of my daughter Margaret, and 
Vincent de Paul, their bequests to be as first named.  And in case there is not 
funds enough to pay my bequests each share is to receive a deduction in 
proportion to their respective amounts.  In witness whereof I have set my hand 
and seal this 29th day of May, A.D. One thousand eight hundred sixty.

Blair County ss: On the 18th day of June, A.D. 1860, personally appeared before 
me, the Register for the Probate of Wills and granting Letters of Administration 
in and for Blair County, George Weaver and Francis Cassidy, who being duly sworn 
according to law did depose and say that they were personally present and did 
see and hear James Conrad sign, seal, publish, execute, pronounce and declare 
this instrument of writing as and for his Last Will and Testament, and that they 
(these deponents) did sign their names thereto as witnesses, in the presence of 
each other and in the presence of the said Testator, and at his instance and 
request, and that at the signing of the same, the said Testator was of sound and 
disposing mind, memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge and 
belief.

Blair County ss: Before me, Register for the Probate of Wills and granting 
Letters of Administration, personally came Peter O'Hagan, Executor named in the 
foregoing Last Will and Testament, of James Conrad, deceased, who being duly 
Sworn according to law, did depose and say that he will will and truly 
administer the goods and chattels, rights and credits of said Deceased according 
to law.

Peter O'Hagan, Executor of James Conrad Dec'd}

Memorandum: Letters Testamentary were, this day, issued to Peter O'Hagan, of the 
Township of Blair, County of Blair, and State of Pennsylvania, on the estate of 
James Conrad, late of the same place, deceased.
An Inventory of the good and chattels, rights and credits which were of the said 
deceased, to be exhibited in thirty days from this time, and a just and true 
account, calculation and reckoning of his said Administration with One year from 
the date hereof, or when thereunto legally required.
Given under my hand and Seal of Office at Hollidaysburg, this 18th day of June, 
A.D. 1860.  Inventory and Appraisement of the goods etc. filed June 30th, 1860.  
Second Appraisement filed this 27th day of Nov. 1860.. Vendue List 31st. Dec. 
A.D. 1860.  Account passed and filed Dec. 20th, 1862.  Certified to the
