The last will and testament of J G Bechtel of Greenfield Township, Blair 
County, and state of Pennsylvania.
In the name of God, I, John George Bechtel, considering the  uncertainty  of 
this mortal life and being feeble in body but of sound mind and memory, Blessed 
be the Mighty  God for the same,  do make and publish this my last will and 
testament in manner and form following that is to say:
First, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife, Charity Bechtel, to use and 
control of all my property, I am possessed of,  both real and personal for and 
during her natural life and at her decease,
I give unto my son, Richard Bechtel, the house and lot of ground lying and 
being in the town of Claysburg adjoining Jacob Zeth, G. W. Mauks and Jacob 
Walter.
I give and bequeath unto my son, James Bechtel, the house and lot where in I 
now reside and also the lot of timber land on the Cove Mountain about twenty- 
two acres, be the same more or less
I give and bequeath unto my daughter, Mary, intermarried to J U Zeth, the sum 
of fifty dollars.
I give unto my daughter, Rebecca, intermarried to Josiah Paul (Pool), seventy 
five dollars
I give unto my daughter, Margaret, intermarried to Henry Zimmerman, seventy 
five Dollars and, 
I give and bequeath unto my youngest daughter, Anna Bechtel, seventy five dollar
Now my will and meaning is at the death of my wife, Charity, then my sons, 
Richard and James Bechtel, is to take possession their several lots and pay 
unto my said daughter their several sums bequeathed to them by me in equal sums 
that is they, my said sons, are to pay two hundred and seventy five dollars out 
of their shares bequeathed to them in manner following ;the two oldest Mary and 
Rebecca to be paid within one years after they get possession of their several 
lots and the other two namely Margaret and Anna to be paid within two years 
after possession, all without interest and I hereby appoint my son Richard 
Bechtel and Jacob Walters Executors of this my last and only will and testament 
In witness whereof  I have hereunto set my hand and seal the twelfth day of 
April A.D. 1872

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the above named, John George Bechtel, 
to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request and 
in his presence have subscribed our names as witnesses thereunto.

Blair County S.S.:
This seventh day of May A.D. 1872 before me, D M Jones, Register for the 
Probate of wills and granting letters of Administration in and for the county 
of Blair, personally came Daniel Shock and Samuel E Hoenstien, the subscribing 
witnesses to the above will and being duly sworn according to law, did depose 
and say they were personally present and saw and heard John G Bechtel, the 
testator,  sign , seal, publish, pronounce and declare the foregoing instrument 
of writing as and for his testament and last will, that they signed their names 
in the presence and at the request of the said testator and in the presence of 
each other and that at time of so doing he, the said testator. was of perfect 
and sound mind, memory, and understanding to the best of their knowledge and 
belief.

Before me, the Register for the Probate of Wills and Granting Letters of 
Administration in and for the County of Blair, personally came Richard Bechtel 
and Jacob Walter, who being duly sworn doth depose and say that as Executor of 
the last will and testament John G Bechtel, deceased, they will well and truly  
administer the goods and chattels right and credits  of the said deceased 
according to law: and also will diligently comply with the provision of the law 
relating to collateral inheritances.  also that the estate and effects, real 
and personal, for or in respect of which the above Probate is applied for, does 
not in value exceed the sum of Twenty Three Hundred dollars to the best of 
their knowledge and belief

Memorandum: Letters Testamentary were this day issued to Richard Bechtel and 
Jacob Walter on the Estate of John G Bechtel late of Greenfield Twp., 
deceased.. 
An inventory of the goods to be filed in thirty days and an account in one year 
or when thereunto legally required . Given under my hand and official seal at 
Hollidaysburg the 10th of June a. D. 1872     Ins filed July 17 1872     ? last 
filed Oct 28th 1872
