KILLED - Three Bedford county soldiers - Philip P. Croft, John
Ferguson and James W. College - were killed in the Winchester battle.
They belonged to the 110th Regiment, P. V., and fell like heroes,
valiantly fighting for the preservation of the Union and in defence of
the "old flag." Their remains were embalmed and sent home for
interment.
