Will Registered July 5, 1879 Volume 3, Page 331, Estate 3631
In the Name of God, Amen. I , James Beatty, Sr., of Allegheny Township, County of
Armstrong, and State of Pennsylvania, being of sound mind and memory, do hereby
make, publish, and declare this to be my last will and testament, in manner and
form following, hereby revoking any will or wills heretofore made by me.
First, I direct all my just debts and funeral expenses be fully paid and satisfied
as soon as comveniently can be after my decease
Item. I will and bequeath to my beloved wife, Catherine, the homestead where we now
live as long as she lives for her sole use and also the use or income of all my real
estate as long as she lives.
It is my will that my executors shall rent out and manage my farms in general so
as to relieve my wife of needless anxiety and trouble. It is also my will that in
case the proceeds of my estate will not be sufficient to maintain my said wife,
that she shall get at least two hundred and fifty dollars a year from the
servicing executors. They may do as most desireable.
Item. It is also my will that as soon as practicable after the death of my dear
wife, all my property and real estate be sold , and equally divided among my
children, namely Michael Beatty, William Beatty, Miles Beatty, James Beatty, Samuel
Beatty, John Beatty, Daniel Beatty, Katherine Beaty, intermarried with Thompson
Kelley, my three grand children , sons of my daughter Mary, intermarried with Silas
Wareham, to have one share equal between them , that so these three boys are to
have the same as one of my own children.
It is also my will that the accounts and money due me from my sons on their lands
not to be collected , but it become part of their share of my estate, they paying
interest on the same
It is my will that my son Michael Beatty and also my son, James E. Beatty act as
my executors in setting up my estate.
In witness whereof, I have set my hand and seal this 24th day of January in the
year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred and Seventy Eight
