Will of John Gregg, deceased 
In the name of God Amen the twelfth day of December in the year of our Lord 
1818 I John Gregg of the County of Washington Pike Run Township State of 
Pennsylvania being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks 
be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and 
knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this 
my last will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give 
and recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my body I 
recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner 
at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general 
resurrection I shall receive the same again by the might power of God and as 
touching such worldly  Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in 
this life I give devise and dispose of in the following manner and form It is 
my will that all my just debts be paid and satisfied 
Item I will and bequeath to my well beloved wife Ann one third of all my moveable 
property and her choice horse or mare on the place except them claimed by the boys 
with her bed and bedding and one third of all the profits arising from all my lands 
and the mansion house during her natural life 
Item to my Daughter Ann I will the sum of one dollar 
Item to my Daughter Sarah I will one dollar 
Item to my son in law William Wallace I will one dollar 
Item to my three sons Andrew Gregg Jacob Gregg Robert Gregg I will and bequeath 
all my lands to be divided and valued as equally as It will admit with the horse 
mare or colt claimed by each of them to Andrew and Jacob their guns only the land 
to remain as it is at present to raise school and cloth my children viz Andrew Jacob 
Robert Elizabeth Margaret Mary and Jane that is the home place and where Aron Ward 
lives to be rented for the use of the above mentioned heirs until one of my 
above mentioned sons should Marry or my youngest child arrive at the age of 
twenty one years or and if one of my sons or any of them mary before my 
youngest child attains at the above mention age he is to have possession of 
the place where Aron Ward now lives by paying to his Mother her part willed to 
her if he sees proper to take  a place otherwise he is wait until my youngest 
child come to the age of twenty one years then to have his lot with my others 
sons 
Item I will and bequeath to my four Daughters Elizabeth Margaret Mary and 
Jane two thirds of all my movable property and the adds in the valuation of 
land if there be any only my Daughter Elizabeth is to have the bureau and bed 
and bedding and her choice horse or mare or colt only them that is willed to 
her mother or the boys more that there is left to the other three girls 
Margaret Mary and Jane 
Item It is my Will that there be a part or small piece of land sold of the place 
where Aron Ward now lives to help to pay for ad place and 
Lastly I do make ordain and Constitute and appoint Barnet Johnson Henry Gregg Jr 
and my son Andrew Gregg sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament and I do 
hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former Testaments 
Wills and legacies and Executors by me in any ways before this time named willed 
and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and 
Testament 

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year 
above written December the 12th 1818

last will and Testament in the presence of us the subscribers who in his presence 
and in the presence of each other have Subscribed our names

Be it remembered that on the sixth day of April in the year of our Lord, one 
thousand eight hundred and nineteen, before me, Isaac Kerr, Register for the 
probate of Wills and granting Letters of Administration, in and for said County, 
came, John Nixon and Robert Kerr, two of the subscribing witnesses to the aforegoing 
last Will and Testament of John Gregg, late of the County aforesaid, deceased, who, 
being duly sworn and affirmed, do depose affirm and say that they were personally 
present, and did see the Testator  therein named, execute this will, and did hear 
him publish, pronounce and declare the same to be his last Will and Testament: 
That at the time of his so doing, he was, to the best of their apprehensions of sound and 
disposing mind, memory and understanding; And that they and Henry Hannen, who 
is not present, Respectively subscribed their names as witnesses to this Will, 
in the presence, and at the request of the Testator, and in the presence of 
each other. 
Note, John Nixon was affirmed. And Sworn and affirmed to and 
subscribed before me Isaac Kerr Register.     

John Nixon Robert Kerr April 6th 1819. Letters Testamentary with copy of the Will and 
probate annexed, issued to Henry Gregg Junior and Andrew Gregg, two of the Executors in the 
within will named, who on the same day were duly sworn.
