Washington County, Pa.  James Beatty   Will No. 144 Vol. 5-536

In the name of God, Amen. I, James Beatty, of East Bethlahem Township, Washington
County, and State of Pennsylvania, being weak in body, but sound in mind and memory,
calling to mind as to my worldly affairs, as what God has blessed me with First, I
commit my soul to God, who gave it, hoping that He will raise it at the resurrection
of the dead. Second: I will that my body is to be buried  in a Christianlike manner
by my executors herein after named. Third, I will and bequeath unto my dear and
beloved wife, Matgaret Beatty, my whole estate, real and personal, during her
natural life, after my just debts and funeral  rxpenses be paid.. Then at the death
of my wife, to fall into the hands of  my three daughters, Sarah, Eleanor, and Nancy
Beatty, hereafter described, Fourth: I will and bequeath to my daughters Elizabeth
Shidler, Jane Shidler, Margaret H. Galaway, and Martha Billings each one to be paid
one dollar as they have been portioned off by me, their father, when they went to
housekeeping to be paid to them by my executors after my decease at the end of one
year. Five: I will that if any of my three daughters above named, Sarah, Eleanor and
Nancy  should  marry, the estate is to remain still to them that remain single. Six:
I will that if any of my three daughters before named should die, their share to be
--------that survive. . If all should marry after the death of their mother, then
the plantation is to be appraised  by five indiuos  ???? men and sold  and to be
equal shares to my daughters and them or them that survive, or their heirs. Seventh:
I will that my executors herein after mentioned should assist in seeing of renting or
keeping the place in order for the heirs that stays on the place. Eighth: I will and
appoint my Brother in Law, John Hill, and my grandson, Williamson Beatty, my sole
execitors to execute  and perform to the best of their Knowledge.  And this to be my
last will and testament, revoking all others and pronounces the same and in the
presence of each other  and the presence of the testator as witnesses my hand  this
twentyeth day of April, 1832. Signed, sealed in the presence of each other of us.

Codicil December 25,  A.D. 1838 This codicil I now make as my will and desire  in
the following manner; to wit: I will that after all my just debts and funeral
expenses  be paid out of my estate by my executors  and then the whole of my estate
real and personal to my two daughters, Sarah and Eleanor Beatty during their natural
life to be equal between them both, and if either of them should die, then to still
remain in the one that survives as long as she lives wholey hers and at their
decease to be rqual amongst three sisters as in the fforegoing item. I, the testator
only whereof I now this day and date above stated make it my last will as witness my
hand and seal in the presence of each of the witnesses  pronounce the sameJames
