Blackburn, Margaret Jeanette 

MADISON - Margaret Jeanette 
Blackburn, age 77, died at the 
Middleton Village Nursing Home on 
Saturday, October 24, 1992, after 
an extended illness. She was born 
on July 30, 1915, in Brainerd, 
Minnesota, the daughter of the 
late Edith (Miller) and William 
Rose. She has two sisters, Dorothy 
(Hagen) and Francis (Manley). 
Edith died when Margaret was a 
child, and her father remarried 
Pearl Wooley, who had a son, 
Howard Wooley, from previous 
marriage. She graduated from the 
Burlington High Schoot in 1934. In 
1937, she married Milo Blackburn. 
She and her husband resided on 
their farm near Burlington, 
Wisconsin. She was particularly 
blessed with an entrepreneurial 
spirit and conducted several 
businesses ranging from fishing 
bait sales to her major activity, 
a sod business, Turfland, Inc. She 
enjoyed contact with repeat 
customers and employees who helped 
her in later years. She was a 
great devotee of horticulture from 
the garden to the vineyard to the 
orchard. She also loved to fish on 
the ice or in her boat and was 
renowned for her preparation of 
wild gome. in later years, she 
relocated to Madison and took 
great comfort in the activities in 
the Alzheimer's Doy Center in 
Madison and benefited from the 
Madison Metro and Mayfiower 
transportation services. Margaret 
was preceded in death by her 
husband, Milo, in 1986; and by her 
siblings and step family. She is 
survived by her daughter, Maryan 
"Robin" Stubbs of Madison, 
Wisconsin; and son-in-law, David 
Stubbs, Milo's nephew, Myron Payne 
and family; and various nieces and 
nephews who live out of state. 
Funeral services will be held on 
Saturday, October 31, at the 
SCHUETTE-DANIELS FUNERAL HOME In 
Burlington, Wisconsin, at 1:30 
p.m., with Reverend Paul Ketterer 
officioting Visitation will be on 
Saturday, October 31, from 11:30 
a.m. until service. Margaret's 
family would like to thank 
what was the Madison Alzheimer's 
Doy Center for the richness they 
ve brought to her life and the 
staff of the Middleton Village 
Nursing Home for  their loving 
care. Margaret was a stout-
hearted, wry-humored, loving  soul 
who will be missed by all.
