Genius Of Liberty May 12, 1887
John C. Beatty, a plasterer by trade and well and
favorably known to the people of Connellsville and New Haven
was found dead in his bed Thursday morning May 5, 1887. Mr.
Beatty was a man of powerful frame and to all appearances in
robust health. The evening before he was in New Haven and
apparently in perfect health. James Beatty, his father,
whose death was announced in the Genius last week was buried
May 5 and John went out to the home in Dunbar twp. near
Leicenring, on the evening before retired to bed at 12 pm.
The next morning he was late getting up, and his sister
going to call him was horrified to find him cold and
lifeless. The cause of his death is supposed to be from
heart disease. His funeral took place on sunday under the
King David Lodge of Dunbar, General Worth Lodge of Odd
Fellows, of Connellsville and Improved Order of Red Men of
Connellsville. The deceased was 37 yrs old . He possessed a
genial social disposition and many warm friends with whom he
associated in life will sadly miss his pleasant greetings.
The members of the secret organisations with which he was
connected showed their appreciation of his standing by
turning out in large numbers to pay their tribute and
respect to his memory.
