Van's Creek Church, Elbert Co., GA

An old handwritten document, microfilmed 15 Apr 1960 by
the GA Dept. of Archives and History, is as follows: 

"Records of the Church of Christ at Van's Creek in 
Elbert County, Georgia. 

"Constitution lost or mislayed according to the best
recollection of one of the oldest members, sister Milly
White, wife of the Rev. John White. This church was 
constituted in the year 1785. Ministers in attendance on
the occasion - Rev. Sanders Walker, Rev. Thomas Gilbert
and Rev. Dozier Thornton. 

"The following is a list of the names of the members,
constituted according to the recollection of Rev. Dozier
Thornton. 
1 Dozier Thornton ordained minister
2 Elizabeth Thornton, Sen
3 Elizabeth Thornton, Jun
4 William Arnold
5 Susan Arnold
6 Nathan Morgan
7 Elizabeth Morgan
8 Thomas Gilbert ordained minister
9 Hannah Gilbert
10 John White [ ? ]
11 Milly White

"Dozier Thornton was the first Pastor.
William Arnold Deacon and Clerk

"The above information has been obtained from Rev. 
Dozier Thornton and sister Milly White this 25th
March 1839 Asa Christian "

word or title.]
